Terra's Fun Stuff
I love anime, and magna, and movies, and writing, and drawing, and cheese. So I decided why not group all the things I like together, well without the cheese, and I came up with the idea of writting reviews. So here it is, have fun, enjoy.

Star Driver has to be one of the most interesting anime I have seen come out in a while. The plot seems well written, and the story flows great. The mecha are the most unique I have seen in ages, and the music is to die for. But there are some downfalls to this anime, first though the art style is vibrant and fresh, the faces all look the same, male and female, the eyes and hair being the only difference, not to mention the bodies start to really resemble one another. Another problem I found was the repetitive transformation scenes, which I felt were a little long, not Dragon Ball Z, ‘I’m gonna drag on over ten episodes’ long, but where it is as long if not longer than the fight scenes.
The fights scenes I will admit were good, they were epic, but the problem I found was that they didn’t draw out. Each episode usually ends with one fight that’s somewhere between one to five minutes. The climax includes Takuto either taking a few hits, his enemy knocking him down, or some how appearing to have a very minor advantage, to turn around the next second and show that there really was no real cause for concern.
Another note along the art, despite the features being similar (body, and face) the eyes and hair don’t leave much guessing as to who is behind what mask, on the bad guys side. And here they think they’re doing a good job with their code names, and masks to hid their faces.
So onto the actual story. You have the main character Takuto who swam across the ocean to this small island for some reason or other. He is the ‘Galactic Pretty Boy’ and has his own cybody (Cybodies are the big giant robots). When he gets to this island it doesn’t take long to discover, SURPRISE, there’s an organization there who are trying to destroy the seals on the maidens, four women who have seals that restrict the Cybodies to certain areas first phase, second phase, third phase. Of course when he gets there one of the seals already gets destroyed allowing both Takuto and the Order of the Glittering Star Cross (pst, these are the bad guys! D8 ) to ‘apprivoise’ in Zero Time. Another realm of sorts where Cybodies can be used.
The bad guys are after Wako, one of the four shrine maidens, in attempt to break the seal on her so their cybodies can enter the third phase, and apparently enter the world. Now despite trying to allow the cybodies into the world and the Order of the Glittering Star Cross trying to destroy everyone while hiding their faces pretending no one can figure out who they are, you have a nice 18-20 minute episode of school life, on this small island where you begin to meet everyone there is to know, hear pretty songs being sung, and listen to a story about Sam and the Fish King, all the while wondering if there’s going to be a fight longer than the last episode, or trying to figure out what’s going to be the main factor Takuto is going to win in this episode. Quite frankly I think it’s because of the hair. How can someone with plain one colour hair stand up to someone who transforms into having blond bangs?!
Overall Star Driver was a decent anime, it has kept me watching, if not for the mere fact that I enjoy the character development, and relationships that show, and just to hope that someday they’ll reveal who all these paintings that have the ‘R’ on them belong to, and what the significance of them is. But if you’re looking for your usual mecha show with lots of fighting, you’d be better off skipping this one and picking up something in the Gundam Series.
