D8
It was always the same daily trip to the Marketplace in Hyrule. It'd begin the same way and it would end the same way. Not that there was anything wrong with that, infact, the child enjoyed it since it meant spending time with his sister, his grandmother and his grandfather.

It would begin at the crack of dawn. He would be snug in his bed, his sister laying on the other side of him, hogging up the blankets. He'd let her, however. Never bothered him much. The door would creak open, a shaft of light peeking in on his little face. A warm hand would stroke his forehead up to his hair and his open his bright blue eyes, looking up at his grandmother's caring smile.

"Goodmorning, sweetheart," she'd say, moving around the bed to open the curtains, illuminating the room with a pale orange.

"Morning..." he'd respond, sitting up in bed groggily and stretching out. She'd move over to the other side of the bed to reach his sister and she'd lean over to kiss her forehead and wake her up. She usually whined a little but she'd get up and apologize to the sweet lady.

"Oh..We've got a big day ahead of us. Your grandfather and I need to go into the market for some things,"

The little boy swung his legs over the edge of the bed and hopped off, scratching his head a little. "What kind of things, grandma?" he asked, looking over at his sleepy sister. "Angela, wake up and put your shoes on," he said.

"Kay...Just...gonna...rest my eyes first...zzz..."

"Angela!"

"I'm awake!"

The woman giggled a bit and went for the door, holding onto the door frame slightly. "When you two are ready, I've made breakfast," she said, tilting her head a bit before walking out of sight. Her voice could still be heard from down the hall.

"Please don't forget to wash up first, Ark, Angela!"

Ark slipped his shoes on and started for the bathroom ahead of his sister whom was nodding off while sitting up in the bed. "I guess I'll wash up first then..."

After he'd wash his face and dried off, he would do what he always does. Walk passed his sleepy sibling, wonder what his mother was doing and if she was alright as he made his way down the hall. He'd glance at the old letters on the table in the living room, hoping that one day he'd see a returning address with his mother's name. It never came...

Then alas, he'd walk into the kitchen where his grandmother was behind the stove, his grandfather was seating himself and acknowledging Ark politely. He'd walk over to the same chair he sat in at the table, looking down at his empty plate. He was very quiet for an eight year old. It wasn't that he was uncomfortable or ackward, but he just didn't have much to say. There were always things on his mind, but he didn't want to burden his grandparents with them.

Then his grandma Diana would come to the table, serving their breakfast in the following order: Grandpa Seraph first, then Ark because he was at the table already, then Angela who'd groggle in, still half-asleep, and then she'd serve herself last. She always put herself last. Just like his mother always did with them when they were with his father.

Angela would seat herself next to her brother and smile up at their grandfather, start talking away to he and Diana. She liked talking about the garden and about how much fun it was going to be that day with them. She usually made Grandpa Seraph and Grandma Diana smile alot. She was a good kid.

Then grandma would realize he was quiet and picking at his food.

"Ark, are you sure you're alright? Oh my...you barely touched your food..."

"Oh, yes, I'm fine. Thank you for asking..."

She looked worriedly at him.

"What's the matter, sweetheart? Oh...I could cook you something else if you don't want anything I've made..."

Ark shook his head and smiled reassuringly. "It's alright, grandma. I love this, I just am kinda tired today," he said, scooping up as much of the pancake as he could, stuffing it in his mouth to show her he liked the food.

Diana would smiled again and return to her conversation with her husband and Angela. Ark, once more, listened or every now and then, he'd be lost in thought about his parents. What was it that bothered him so much? Why did he let it bother him?

Maybe it was because he felt like they were abandoned. Forgotten about. Thrown away like garbage. Of course rationality said that there must have been a good reason for his mother to leave them with their grandparents. Grace was always a loving mother. She was smart, kind, brave and friendlier than anyone could imagine. When it came to Ion, he tried to think of something good to say.

He was his father.

He was extraordinarily skilled.

He was intelligent.

He was also negligent and abandoned his responsibilities as a father.

Somehow, he still cared about him. Again, he was his father afterall.

After breakfast, he and his family would leave off to the market before his grandfather's patients came by. Since there was always something going on in Hyrule, especially the bandit count that tripled daily, there were more accidents, deaths and injuries that occurred. Most of the injured would find his grandfather and grandmother's home where they'd be treated. So it was always routine to come and buy more supplies for his practice.

His grandmother would help comfort the patients the best to her ability, whether it'd be providing temporary shelter, food, drink or sometimes even clothes, she would do whatever it took to help them and especially her husband. Ark liked the closeness between his grandparents. It was nothing like Ion and Grace.

Sure they ventured off together, occasionally they held conversations and sometimes it wouldn't have anything to do with "immortality", which he was sure, made Grace even happier when they could talk about other things. It was interesting to him as well. Like hearing his father's point of view every now and then. He knew his mother's already, like the back of his hand. As well as Angela's. Ion was truly almost an enigma to him. It was entirely bothersome.

As the family would make their way across the busy fields, he'd take the time to scope out the other families around them. Often there'd be the usual family unit with a good father who's bouncing his son around, hugging him and being a good dad. Sometimes he'd see mothers tending to their child's every whim, wiping away their tears when they injure themselves. It was something he wanted.

He sort of had it with his grandparents, but they weren't his actual mom and dad. So it was just as frustrating. Hell, even his cousin, Viscen, who visited every once in awhile with his parents, had gotten this treatment. Despite all that he'd been told about his Uncle Tangora, he knew them well enough as of now, to see that he was a good father and apparently a good husband to Clarissa. They seemed happy and whole. Not wholesome, but whole, more than content.

His mind often wandered to whether or not his uncle had liked him. Sure Aunt Clarissa loved him, brought him and Angela things on their visits, Viscen was completely competitive but still held a nice friendship with him...but Uncle Tangora hardly ever acknowledged him. He had been hoping he wasn't being judged by his blood-line.

By then he, Angela and his grandparents would be in the center of the marketplace. They each be given 20 rupees to spend on their own and would usually spend it on candy. He may not have had much in common with other children his age, but he did love him some candy when he got it.

I'll finish his usual day later. My fingers hurt!

Grace: Do you really think I abandoned you, Ark? : <

Ark: Sorta...

Grace: I would never abandon you! You're my son, my little boy. I love you with all my heart, there's just no way I'd do that. *hugs him tight*

Ark: *hugs back* Then you shouldn't have left us!

Grace: I didn't mean to. : <

Ark: : <
