Easing herself up to a sitting position, she looked over at her alarm clock and, almost instantly, the alarm muted itself. She stared at the contraption nervously then jumped out of bed, looking around to make sure everything was in order. Her room was just as messy as always, nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. The only thing that stood out was her alarm clock. Confused, she began to prepare for the day, not thinking much of it.
Once she had changed into her uniform, brushed her mess of hair, and gathered her stuff, she opened her door and stood there, gaping in front of her. All she could see was a dark space. No floor, no walls, not even a ceiling. It was as if she was staring out into the universe. She dropped her bag beside her and tried to take a step back but, for some reason, her body wouldn't listen to her. It was as if there was some sort of force preventing her.
Suddenly, against her own will, her arm raised on it's own and lurched out into the empty space, forcing her along with it. She tried to scream but she wasn't in control of her body anymore. She fell continuously for what felt like hours, thinking this would be the last of her life. Suddenly, a light shone before her and she gazed up at it as it grew brighter and brighter. The control she wanted over her arms was still lost so she couldn't shield her eyes as she approached the beam of light at an extremely fast pace. Soon, the light consumed her entire body and then...
Luci jolted in her sleep as her alarm began it's drone to wake her up. She sat up nervously and looked around her room. Just as she had left it the night before. Cautiously, she turned to look at her clock and, to her relief, it's alarm continued. Jumping to her feet, she ran to the door and threw the door open to see her mom about to come in and wake her.
"Well, you seem to be up.' she said then noticed her daughter's distress. "What's wrong, Luci? Have a bad dream?" she asked in a caring voice. Luci looked up at her mom and leaned against the doorframe.
"Yeah..." she mumbled and slowly closed her door. She slid to the ground, her back against the wall, and stared at her shaking hands.
'It...it seemed so real...' she thought and shook her head as she prepared herself for the day.
