a monthy "did you know?": geysers Geysers are hot springs that periodically erupt, throwing water into the air. For a geyser to form there must be an abundant supply of water, an intense source of heat and sufficient "plumbing" for the water to pressurize. Scientists estimate that there are only around 1000 active geysers on Earth.
