After four years of city life, Mr.Tsukioka decided to travel west to California. The family packed away their family valubles, and left Boston for the last time.
"Ouch" Ben got up and rubbed his knee. "that hurts..."
He patted his shorts and dusted them off. When he looked up he saw a boy with dark hair and blue eyes.
"Hi! My name's Tyler!"
"I'm Ben."
"Wanna play a game?"
"Sure." Tyler smiled at him. The two boys ran around and played in the tall prarie grass.
The wagon train made camp.
there was a roaring fire, and hot stew in the big iron pot. Ban ate some stew out of a pewter bowl and Tyler sat next to him looking up at the stars. Before long, the two were curled up next to each other, staying warm under the endless western sky...
"Mommy! We picked you some flowers!" called a dusty Ben. He ran up to the wagon with Tyler and hended a handful of wildflowers to her. She took the ribbon out of her ahir and tied them to the top of the Conestoga to dry, and smiled at them.
"That way they'll last forever."
The boys grinned, and ran off to pick more flowers.
