Chapter 26- Expect the Unexpected
I wanted to cry at the sight in front of me. Jason looked like he was about to cry, and Lin looked mad, sad, and happy all at once. I saw Jason run to Maya, as Lin suddenly pulled me into a hug, kissing my lips. I felt my stomach flip over, as my face heated up. Lin put his cheek on top of my head, holding my waist
"I'm sorry" he whispered in my ear, sending a shiver down my spine
"What? No, I'm just glad your alright" I hugged him back
"We can't stay out here. Someone will notice us." Lin spoke quietly. I let go of the hug, now holding his hand as my vision faded.
"Where do we go?" I asked, almost scared he was going to say the forest.
"The forest is the best place at this time. We'll sleep there for the night and then get back in the castle in the morning." He replied, looking at me.
I took a breath, looking at Lin with a scrunched face. He raised one eyebrow looking at me oddly, but I shook my head, now walking to Maya's side, slightly dragging him with me. I paused as my sight had just left me, making my eyes water slightly,as Lin squeezed my hand, reassuring me.
"Jason ,I can't see." I heard Maya whisper
"What the-" She suddenly almost yelled after a few seconds, but I slapped my free hand over her mouth, shutting her up.
"Sh!" I looked at her face, not that she or I could see anything.
I let go of her mouth, taking a step backward bumping into Lin. He snickered pulling me into another hug, as his hands went around my neck. I smiled at him as he let go, now dragging me in the direction of where the forest is located.
"Lin.. I'm sure you know, but I can't see" I whispered, tripping on a root as if to prove my point
"Woah, careful" Lin whispered back, catching my fall
"Thanks" I stood myself back up, feeling the ground in front of me with my foot, to make sure I wasn't stepping on anything.
Lin let out a small laugh as I looked in his general direction
"What?" I asked pausing in the middle of my foot search
"You look so ridiculous" he laughed, picking me up bridal style. I looked at him wide eyed, not that I could see anything, as he suddenly kissed me, probably leaning his head down. I wrapped my arms around his neck kissing him back, my stomach flipping over.
"This works." Lin stated, as he placed me down agenst a tree, placing himself on my left side. I turned my body so I could lean agenst his shoulder, placing my hand on top of his.
"Hey, Candace?" Lin rubbed my head
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry about what happend" I turned my body to face his face
"What?" I asked, looking into the general area of where his eyes would be
"After you were sent somewhere by your dad, your mom sent Jason and I into her memory of when you became blind, and what my dad did to your family and village.. I'm so sorry for what he did.." His voice faded away, as I stared at him in shock.
Had they been teleported someplace too? Into our past? It couldn't of been dad because he sent Maya and I off to the library... was it mom? Maya's words could have been strong enough to break the spell she was under, for her to send the boys somewhere safer.. I look a deep breath, as Lin put his hand on my cheek.
"No it's fine." I smiled at him
"I feel pissed when ever I think about what he did to your family, especially since I'm blood related to him" I heard the ground thump once, as I jumped. Lin probably punched the ground.
"No, It's fine. If that didn't happen, how would I have met you?" I sat up on my knees, putting my hand onto his cheek.
He suddenly grabbed my waist, pulling me onto his lap, hugging me. I leaned my head on his chest, closing my eyes.
"I love you" I mumbled quietly, falling asleep.

Maya told Lin the plan that she had. We all knew the risks that could occur and what cold go wrong, which was why Lin declined it. Jason let it go by with a 'be careful' as I was forced to make Lin agree to the plan. How else were we going to get my family back? I stuck out my tongue at him as he agreed to it after I spoke to him. The plan was that Maya and I would go into the castle, finding the wizard and lifting the curse, mean while Jason and Lin would fight off the soldiers and the dark lord outside. It was very risky for all of us, yet in the end it would be worth it. We walked to the garden area of the castle, as Lin pulled me to another side of the wall.
"Be careful, okay?" He whispered, pulling me into a hug
"I'll be fine, we won't even be gone for that long" I hugged him back laughing.
"I love you" he mumbled into my ear
"I love you too" I whispered, crashing my lips onto his. We smiled at each other.
"Let's go." Jason prompted as Lin and I walked over to them
Lin nodded and opened a secret door that was hiding behind a rose bush.
"This leads to Kane's room. The torches are always lit so you'll be able to see. Just don't make a lot of noise." He said, looking at me
I rolled my eyes, giving him a look to say that I wasn't too pleased with his assumption.
"You and Lin have been whispering a lot lately..." Maya said to my ear as we went through the door
"Uh huh." I simply replied
"... you're not gonna tell me are you?" She asked
"Not a chance."
I began walking down the hallway, watching my steps. We came to another door at the end, Maya and I having to push it from it's heavy weight. We carefully walked past the empty chambers, trying not to make a sound. We walked past a door, Maya slightly stopping. Was this where the wizard is? We peered into the dark room, to see a body lieing on a bed of hay, snoring loudly. Maya and I looked at each other for a second, mentally preparing for what he had to do next. We sat down in front of the bars that separated us from the wizard. We closed our eyes, taking in a deep breath as we recited the spell.
Each word rolled off my tongue, as my hands followed each hand movement, as if I had known the spell my whole life. Maya and I were in sync as we spoke the spell, although you don't really need two people to for this, it made it that much easier. After saying the final verse, we clapped our hands, waiting for our results. The spell was complete. We opened our eyes, to see that nothing happened. At all. The wizard was still asleep, snoring even. Did we do something wrong?
"Maya did it work?"I asked her through my mind, not wanting to wake him up.
"I don't know." She replied.
"...Maybe he has to be awake?" I asked, thinking of all the possibilites
"It shouldn't matter."
"Don't get mad... we'll have to go to the guys. If it didn't work..."
"Right."
We slow stood up, walking away, hoping something would happen, although nothing did. I heard Maya sigh as I turned around, taking a few steps, walking into a pile a barrels. The loud noise made my heart thump loudly, as I sat on the floor, getting a freaked out look by Maya. We paused, hearing heavy foot steps from some of the guards. This wasn't good. We were between them and a stone wall, which meant we were trapped. Maya grabbed my arm, steadying me back on my feet. It felt like my ears were still ringing. I squinted my eyes a few times, trying to get the shock out of my head, the door of wizard's door suddenly flung open, the guards running straight into it. I stared in shock, as I could feel my eyes were wide. The wizard walked out, looking at the guards, then turned his attention to us. I wasn't sure if I felt happy, mad, or just right down thrilled. I coughed once from not being able to decide on what emotion I felt
"D-Dad?" I mumbled
I was surprised that I called him that, but it just slipped out of my mouth. Maya and I ran to him, hugging him. I let a smile spread across my face, he really did feel like our father. He hugged us back, letting us know that the curse was gone, as Maya suddenly pulled away, looking at him in the eye.
"We need to help mom!" She almost yelled, as my eyes grew large again. I completely forgot about mom.
"Thank you girls.... I'm proud."
I nodded once, as we began running up a stair case. There was fighting outside, meaning the boys probably couldn't hold up for much longer. Dad ran ahead of us, probably eager to save mom, leaving us slightly behind him, though not too far. He went into a room, as a loud scream echoed from it. It was mom.
"Ina calm down!" said Dad.
"What are you doing in here?! You're not suppose to be in here! Where's my husband?! What's going on?! Why am I not with him?!" she shrieked
I was about to go in, but Maya held me back, probably wanting to hear what would happen. Dad started whispering a spell, as Maya and I peeked my head around the door, to realize it wasn't a spell, but a trance. And by trance, we mean dad kissed mom to shut her up. She then sat down, as he actually started to do the spell. It was kind of like the same spell we used to life the curse off him, but he was standing with his eyes fully opened, as his moth moved so fast, I couldn't make out any of the words that he spoke. We stood behind him, watching him do his magic, as he didn't break focus at all, and had complete control.
"Aha! We've found you!" said a low evil voice behind us.
Mom didn't move and dad didn't break focus. Maya and I spun around to see the dark lord in the doorway, starring at us with pure hate and a lust to kill.
