Life's like an ocean
When you start out, it's simple sand
That only irritats you
Yet you're so eager to
Finally touch water (reach maturity)

Then your toes get cold
As the water sprays on you
Now you got sand AND water between your toes
It's fun
It's simple
Yet you still venture out, having to know what's little to be expected

Now the water's up to your waist
You have little trouble wading through it all
But you're still full of energy to continue on
But you're starting to worry also.
All of a sudden
The fun little ocean don't seem as fun in the first place.
You still venture out

Now the water's up to your neck
Barely keeping you're head above water
You still have that energy from when you started out
But it's beginning to fade also (getting older)
Yet you still venture out
Already having trouble moving around as is

Now
You're energy's ran out
Your arms tired of fighting
Your legs tired of paddling
Without knowing it
You're in deep waters
The shore seeming to be so far behind you
You begin drowning in the water you've ran straight long into
There's no hope around
The waters swallow you whole
There's no going out

You know begin to remember
The shore you was so eager to get away from (home/beginning/etc)
And remember your protector's words (guardian)
And regretted that you didn't listen to him/her

You begin regretting
That you didn't take the floaty. (precautions)
