Is love Dead?
I have been contemplating this for awhile now...love is dead. I dont think that married couples can stay toghether anymore. Divorse is on the rise, it has almost become part of the cycle of life, Get married have kids then divorce. Not to mention the infidelity that has become so common an issue in marrage. I have noticed that the majority of students in my classes parents are divorced, either that or they are unhapply toghether, usually for at least one of the following reasons :infidelity, financial strain, or just plain getting tired of one another. To be quite frank it discourages me. If almost everyone divorses why marry? But this is not all that is bothering me about this entity we call "love" I notice this word has virtually no meaning what so ever. Think about it, we use the word "love" for anything and everything. We tell people we love them even if we really dont feel anything for them, its like a reflex word...just say it. The word love is tossed around as often as the word "cute" both seem to hold multiple meanings without holding any meaning at all. In my family is where I most notice this enomoly, to be more specific my fathers side of the family. My Grandma Hope, my uncle Rico, My Grandpa Anebal, and almost all my cousins dont love me...actually Its painfully obvious that they dont, yet they say they do. I believe "loving" someone is a social obligation...That thing which we named "love" is an illusion, a type of wishful thinking, we want to believe that we all can feel emotions of compasion and caring for someone...forever, when maybe we just cant. Maybe us as human beings cannot actually have permanent attachments. If love is real...whatever it is, it is endangered, damn near extinction.
