It will take me sometime to actually finish it and whatnot, but I'll update it as much as I can here. Check back from time to time.
Update 2/24/09: Submitted my excerpt to the Arena.
Anarchy in the house of god.
Anarchy in the house of god. Flames lick at the foundation of lies. All shall be burnt to dust. All cower in the face of immortal fear. All shall fall, none shall rise. Fear grips the masses by the throat, forever strangulating and never letting go. All shall be burnt to dust.
It all began as a fight for control. It was an inner fight, known only to a few of those higher up. Soon though, it escalated into a full blown war for control of everything. Holy hosts with their swords of flame, and armor that shines as if forged from the sun itself. Tower shields of Diamond and Sapphires. Archers lined the back rows, bows sung from the trees in the Garden of Eden. Feathers of the graceful Trumpeter Swan adorned the shafts giving them flight, while Broad heads made from the essence of the Lord himself gave the arrows a wicked glint and a deadly strike. Eyes set hard in the knowing of what was to pass. Today was the first battle of many to come against the defectors, the unholy hosts, the arch angels, the demons of hell. Those who fed on fear and grew from death and destruction. Armor as black as night and made from the very pits of hell. Swords of darkness that seemed to swallow the very light itself, and from the tips of the swords dripped a poison so lethal, that it not only destroyed the flesh, but also ate away at one's very soul. Round shields made of tempered Onyx with spikes of Diamond adorned their backs, ready for use when the time comes. Their teeth bared in a feral grin.
The scorching heat from the sun overhead began to cause beads of sweat to form on the brow of Lain. He was the commander of the Arch angel forces. Looking across the field at the holy forces, he calculated that though they have archers, his forces still had an advantage. There would be no mercy, all knew this fact, as no one could afford to give even a single inch. However, as big as this battle may be, there would be many more to come. Much more slaughter and mayhem. The time had come for those in control to lose that control, and die with it, cursing those who took it.
