Well, here you are [again], wasting your life away by reading about mine. I appreciate it. I think. All one-point-five of you. [sigh] I currently have Caramelldansen stuck in my head. Isn't that lovely. Moving on. I believe I shall discuss my day. After dragging myself out of bed much later than I planned to [well, there's a surprise], I headed to Barnes & Noble. Which is always fantastic. I was immensely tired by the end, but...oh well. I got some sweet stuff. And used up every gift card I had for the place. xD So, among my purchases: ♥ Special A [volume 1] I haven't gotten around to reading this manga yet, but I got volumes 2-5 for my birthday, so I figured the first volume would be necessary, even if the series turns out to suck. Anyone know anything about it? I haven't gotten around to Wiki-ing it, yet, but the drawings look nice, and the blurb makes it sound halfway decent. As long as it isn't too sporty, I'll be fine. ♥ High School Debut [volume 2] Similar to the above, I received volumes 1 and 3 of this manga for my birthday, and picked up this one to further complete the series. Because it was kind of necessary. The artwork looks good [although Kazume Kawahara's clearly no Takeshi Obata or Tsugumi Ohba or whichever did the drawing for the Death Note series], and the idea seems interesting enough to bother with, for me. So yay. Sometime, I'll read it and get a report back to you. Because I know everyone here on Gaia awaits my opinions with a fervent passion. ♥ Hell Girl [volumes 1 and 2] I believe these are the only two volumes, and I certainly never expected to find them. They were slightly more expensive than manga generally is, but they claim to have extra stuff in them. So maybe that's true. Anyway, the art looks really anime-ish, with big glittering eyes and stuff, but I really liked the anime, so I have high hopes for the manga. Whenever I get around to reading it. I also need to start watching Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae before YouTube finds it. D; ♥ Star Trek: The Manga [Kakan ni Shinkou] This was kind of an impulse, last-second buy. I mean, how could I refuse? It combines my two favourite fandoms into one. Well, not exactly /favourite/...I've never been a major TOS fan, but still. Star Trek. And there's a story about...getting "to the core of Vulcan emotion". Which sounds amazing. Because I love Vulcans. This isn't the first of these manga, but oh well. They don't appear to be a collection where order would matter. And the lady who like, draws for it or something was totally at the convention I went to in November. And I had no idea until it was over. [sigh] Oh well. The book promises an "exclusive excerpt" from a TNG thing. So I'll be anticipating that a lot. =D ♥ A Mango-Shaped Space Finally, I found this. In the children's section, mind you, but nevertheless. It's about a girl with synesthesia, which is like the most amazing condition ever and I could rant for hours. I wrote an essay on this, in eighth grade. It was more like a thesis paper, seriously. /So/ cool. You should absolutely check it out. Wiki or Google it, or something. No lie. It is so inexplicably awesome I'm not even going to try to explain it in this journal. I'll save that for another time. But anyway. That's what the book is kind of about. <3 I temporarily ditched what I had currently been reading and started it while still in the store. That's how much of a geek I am. Rah. <-- can't quite type out the sound I want to make, but that's close-ish...
So. Now, I need to clear off the bottom of my one bookshelf, because I need more space. My manga collection grew from two to like, fifty volumes kind of quickly. Funny how things do that... And, of course, I have a few other books. Like, mainly old summer reading stuff, or gifts I've been given. Yup.
Next topic: /Star Trek/. <33 I was shocked daily to realize that I had missed Enterprise for the entire week, so I finally got it together and tuned in on Friday, only to find that I'd missed /so much/. T'Pol and Trip? Like, where have I /been/? I think they skipped some episodes, though. And this season, they added a drum beat to the opening theme. o: Then. They ran an episode of The Next Generation. I was so excited, I nearly passed out. It was a really good one, too. About society and the Prime Directive and stuff. I don't see how people can not love Star Trek. Not at all. =/ [blinded by her fandoms]
Next: Gaia. Heh. Yeah... I finally re-reached 30k gold, on here. I'm questing Kelp o' th' Loch, which has been depreciating, thank Kira. So maybe someday, I'll actually be able to buy it. And then, be poor again. [sigh] I changed my avatar, a little while ago. I've been screenie-ing all of the ones I've ever had, so sometime I'll post them up here. 8D I also started selling things in my store. Just anything I've had multiples of. =)
Por último [congratulations if you're still reading this, by the way]: the rest of my day. The only important part of which was spent under a tarp. That's right. So, it was kind of humid [which really jacked with my hair, but oh well -sigh-], as I'd expected/remembered, and just...weird. Although...pleasantly weird, I suppose? I didn't reminisce as much as I'd though I might, which was fine. If it all comes to an end, at least I'll have all of these observations. They'll remain with me indefinitely, for my further analyzation and speculation. I find it to be quite an interesting pastime, if uncomfortable at [all] times. I think the worst of it was from the males--the way they looked at us and talked to him, or didn't say anything at all... Then, this guy comes buy with an effing /camera/. I swear. I swear. But back to the male types. It was strange, the way they acted. Their eyes, their voice and words if they spoke to me, or to him, or to us. Well...it was rather infrequently to us. To me, as well. At least I was remembered as being "clever". That's nice, I suppose. c: What amazed me most, I think, was the lack of jealousy that I sensed. I mean, I know that's just me, but it was something...perhaps I mean to say that jealousy is the complement of the...acceptance, almost. Like they were assuming that they knew, which may be worse than knowing in the first place...
Thanks so much for staying with me through these boundlessly long and numerous paragraphs of my idiosyncrasies. Or just skipping to the last sentence. I guess that's fine, too. [apathetic sigh] Well, church awaits. All too soon...
I promise that I'll write and put up some fanfiction for you guys. Really, I do.
Ja ne for now, ~Maddie needs a new countdown. Mhm... short term: two days long term: four months
