Belated Christmas Gift/entry
FINALLY went out to the coop yesterday. I hadn't been out since Belinda came home. I had called Tom some time ago and let him know that we weren't going to be out, so he was kind enough to take care of them for a few days. The roads out to the cop were pretty bad. It was actually raining that day, and lots of snow was melting, so Dad and I decided it was a good day to visit. Belinda came with us, since she is fine and was no reason to be home. When we got there, Tom had plowed the driveway and the path out to the coop so that made things much easier. When I went inside, it smelled really damp. Probably because two of the water bowls were tipped over. Not sure how much water was in there when it happened, but it was enough to make the floor damp. I need to throw some more litter down the next time I go out. All the food was gone as well, but there was a fair amount of corn left. That'll do for two days. Pancake's boil thing had grown back, and dad thinks it's actually a cyst. I hope it's not cancerous, but I somewhat suspect that it is. Pearl has a growth on the left side of her head. It's made of flesh and scab, and I'm not sure what it is. It's hard to the touch. Pearl seems unaffected by it though. Diem is still missing a lot of back feathers. I'll have to bring a sweater out. Burby is getting older. His face is more lined and he's losing weight and vigor. I'm really worried about him. I sat with him for a while before picking him up and asking Dad is I could bring him home. I really thought Dad would say No, since Belinda was just as home, but to my surprise, he said Yes! I put Burb in the back and took care of the Turkeys. I wish they were more affectionate. So Mr. Burby is home again and has settled into the old routine. I showed Hershel to him, and Burby ignored him. Hersh is starting to show Millie patterns on his wings. Odd huh? I still really miss Milton. I wish I had known that I needed to shut the door that day. I know Hershel isn't Milt's offspring, but it's nice to see something that reminds me off him. There is a potential problem though. If Hershel IS a boy, I'll probably have to get rid of him, since I have too many roosters already. So here's me hoping Hershel is actually a Rebecca.
