"They sit beside you in math class Check out your items at the store They’re the girl crossing the street The boy who holds open the door But beneath their fake demeanor Lies a soul deep inside The mind of the addicted You’d be afraid of what you’ll find
Allison wants nothing more than to be thin But keeps packing the food away So she yanks for finger deep down her throat Watching the shame leave her body every day She doesn’t look sick, because she’s got them all fooled So no one looks for the signs Until her heart stops on the street And they’re forced to say good-bye
Veronica’s skin is covered with cuts That flare red beneath her sleeves Next to her newly failed paper lies her silver savior And she goes to her world of make-believe Her body was found by her father Last Friday with a bullet in her head Across her arms was written All the words she’d never said
And Anthony sits at the table As his parents argue on Up in his room, he puts the heroin in his veins And suddenly, their screaming is gone But he injected a little too much, you see And he knows it’s all coming to an end He accepts this as the heroin kicks in His sister finds him dead
Teens who fell to their salvations The thing that got them through the day What they thought was a way out But it only took everything away Allison is your best friend Looks the same but eats far too much Veronica is your neighbor Who blames her new cat for her brand new cuts And Anthony is the outcast Who sits nest to you in class All three seem so strong All three as fragile as glass No one heard their silent cries Or saw their hidden screams Now they’re trapped forever In their unforeseen dreams They didn’t want this to happen They never wanted to die But that, my friends, is the cold hard truth It‘s the addicts lullabye"
That's the unedtited copy of a poem maybe by a friend of mine in one of my guilds. I thought it was so powerful that I wanted to post it here.... So thank you, Guardian of the Forgotten! It really truly is fantastic.
