Rowan’s Fall
Now the people gather in a large mass With Rowan in a pine box as they pass Laying down a rose on the lid they cry When the towers fell there was no good-bye His hair as black as a raven’s feather Extra baggage was his only tether The casket was made to fit his tall frame He’ll still be remembered all the same Even in death his job was not yet done The package he carried was just a pun He would gladly take ever persons call As reliable as a well built wall At the wrong place at the wrong time he fell Days that where numbered they rang like a bell Now to the grave yard they went slow as death Rowan was on the sway like the winds breath His eyes opened then the confusion hit With a start, he tried to rise a little bit Surrounded in darkness he saw a light And with a gasp he tried so hard to fight Then came the sound of familiar voices The family he left had no more choices They laid him in the ground forever more The cold creped in thru the clothes he now wore With a plea he tried to reach his family But they just regarded him very sadly For now in the ground he is laid to rest An honest man he was others can’t detest Though confused and lost his spirit is bound For eternity he’ll be in the ground
