Why We should Honor America’s Veterans

Veterans are people like you and me, going the extra mile for our safety. They save our country everyday, die for this country, and kill others who try to kill us. If we didn’t have them who knows where’d we be now. We would have no freedom, be governed by another country or be dead.
For some people Veterans are heroes. For others, relatives. Our enemies think of them as road blocks to their goal, killing them in their tracks. Though they don’t succeed most of the time, and if that’s what it takes to stop their rampage of destruction I’ll be a roadblock any day.
I know two people who are servicemen. Our friend Mitchell has been in the service for about a year. My friends Dad has been in the war for as long as I can remember. I don’t know what they do in the service but I am very grateful to them.
My opinion of Veterans is they are people who are kind to all of their country. It’s sad to know that these people have families back home. They probably had good lives back here in the states. Yet, greed doesn’t stand in their way to protect us, and that’s what makes the veterans people to look up to.


Did you know that animals help in the war just as much as Veterans? They actually play a big role in helping the Veterans. Dolphins have been trained to find the mines in the sea. Sea lions help to find any enemy divers who might be planning to destroy a ship. Dogs can be used for being guard dogs for Iraqi prisoners we might have captured. They also find any weapons or bombs that are on the prisoners. Even Pigeons are used to see if there are any chemicals around the area, if one bird dies suddenly then it might be an area of chemicals. Animal Veterans should obviously be honored just as much as human veterans.
I hate war. Three words that are repeated often. I think war is just terrible. Once. When I was younger, I asked my parents why there had to be so much killing and why we can’t just talk out our issues. My dad actually laughed but my mom told me that sometimes peace doesn’t always work. War is a hideous thing. A source of boundless sorrow. Bestowing nothing but misfortune on people. My wish of peace and no more killing has not been answered. I feel so sad for all those families who have relatives in the war. Knowing they might not come back, it’s just a horrible feeling. That’s why Veterans should be honored, for their bravery, kindness, and strength.
