Hello friends! So about the whole book thing, I've got a great new book. It is historical fiction and a mystery. It is based upon the novels about Sherlock Holmes. The book is called The Beekeepers Apprentice: On the Segregation of the Queen, and it is by Laurie R. King. Set in post WWI, this novel features a young heroine named MAry Russel who, by coincidence, encounters an aged Victorian gentleman about ten miles from her home. The aged and sarcastic gentleman is no other than Holmes himself. They become aquaintances, than mentor and student, friends, than finally partners as they tackle a series of cases that culminates in a fight for the safety of themselves and their family from a maniacly clever mastermind who has a grudge against Holmes. The novel is well written and the dialog is witty and engaging, while also retaining its period tone. The verbal battles between the Victorian relic Holmes and the sassy modern femnist Russel is very funny, and goes a long way in making this book very enjoyable.
