Hello, everyone so for school I had to write a narrative Fairy tale so this is what I wrote. Please note that it is 6 pages long :S
The Tinkling Voice By: Danni
Once upon a time in a vast land where not even the people who live there can find a way out there lived… a bird not just any bird oh no but, a magical bird a talking bird. ``Hello, my name is Dorothy L. T-bird pleased to meet you. ``Introduced Dorothy with a sparkling smile. All of the children that were sitting below her tree quickly scattered. Dorothy sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time since the horrible witch cast the spell on her. ``It’s not fair`` `she said with a pout. “All I ever do is be nice to people and what do I get?! She exclaimed furiously. “Yells screams and rocks thrown at my head!!” You see 2 years ago on Halloween day a witch came zipping in on her broom stick when she suddenly lost control and started to chat what must have been a spell to safely land her self on the ground, and the next thing she knew she is able to speak in full English as well as 4 other languages. The witch finally crashed and Dorothy went over to talk to her. The witch “apologized” as best she could, before promising that she would not leave until she reversed the spell. That had been 2 years ago and the witch was still trying to figure out the spell. Apparently there are many different spells to make things talk then she had thought and not only that but, the witch also thought she had made a brand new spell which now leads us to where we are now. As you can imagine the witch had no idea what the spell was there by making it impossible to figure it out.
“Dorothy, Dorothy!” Cried the witch, from inside of her Cottage. “I think I’ve got it.” “The spell I think I have finally figured it out!” ‘That’s what you said the last 900 times’ thought Dorothy with an eye roll. Dorothy quickly flew from the branch she was perched on over to over to the vine covered, brick cottage. Looking from the outside looked like a normal run down cottage but, on the inside it looked like someone trough up their Halloween decorations all over the walls, ceiling and floor. There were carved pumpkins acting as lights caldrons turned upside down acting as tables and real bats hanging from the ceiling. “What is it this time Hellna?” “I think I have it you see if you take Help me land safely backwards you have…” “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.” Dorothy interrupted impatiently “just say the spell already” A second later Dorothy found herself with a third foot and one with one wing “let me know when you come up with another possibility okay” Dorothy said calmly before hopping away back into her tree.
A few days later a young man by the name of Edward happened across a small bush of berries by a hill. Edward stepped over to the bush not seeing the rock sticking out of the ground and tripped over it tumbling quickly down to the tree below. Just as he was about to hit the tree pulled upward by a strange force before being put lightly back on to the ground. Edward looked around seeing nothing but, a small bird in the tree he was about to hit. Seating himself down below the tree he heard a soft tinkling noise of a voice, the most beautiful voice he had ever heard. “Hello?” he questioned, “is anyone there?” Flicking his eyes around the scene before him, he saw nothing. Thinking it was all in his head maybe from hitting it while he was falling down the hill. Edward leaned against the smooth bark of the tree letting him self relax before drifting of to a light sleep Edward awoke to the sound of the tinkling voice again he quickly opened his eyes and darted them around before his eyes finally landed on the bird he had seen when he had first heard the voice. Dorothy hopped down from her tree and gave a little wave with her wing. Edward looked at Dorothy dumfound before pinching his hand. “Ouch” he cried rubbing his hand in the spot where he had just pinched himself. ‘Get a hold of your self Edward you are acting like a loon’. “Wow why would you go and do that when you know it will hurt?” Questioned Dorothy. Edward blinked twice not believing his eyes or ears. He had heard her talk, he knew he had, the voice was the same voice he had heard twice before. “D-d-did you just talk?” stuttered Edward. “If I said yes would you run away screaming?” Questioned Dorothy with a raised eyebrow. “ Umm… no?” Answered Edward not fully sure of his answer. “Then yes I did talk.” “Hi, I’m Dorothy pleased to meet you” Dorothy said cheerfully with a big smile. “ Hi, um I’m Edward it’s nice to meet you too.” “Dorothy can I ask you a question?” asked Edward. Dorothy nodded her head already knowing what he was going to ask. “Why is it that you can talk, I mean you are a bird and birds don’t talk… do they?” So Dorothy answered his question and told him all about how she came about talking. “ Oh, so then the witch has stayed true to her promise and has stayed to help you get back to normal” He asked finally understanding. “Yes, it turned out that once a witch has promised to do something they can’t leave until it has been done.” “ If I had known though I would have never made her promise to help me get back to normal.” Sighed Dorothy thinking of her friend she had un-knowingly imprisoned for years. Dorothy knew that no matter how hard the witch might try she would never be able to undo the spell. “Anyways, tell me about you” Edward began telling Dorothy of his life, how he was a soon to be king and how he didn’t want to rule so he ran away. “And now here I am” said Edward ending his story. “I’m glad you ran away, other wise I may have ended up sitting here alone for the rest of my life.” Stated Dorothy with a timid smile.
Day, after day Dorothy and Edward would go out and talk in the forest. They would spend hours on top of hours just walking and talking before even realising that they were lost and have to get Dorothy to fly up above the trees to find their way back. After two months with Edward Dorothy began to wish that she could stay with Edward forever but knew that it would be impossible she was getting closer and closer to he dieing age. She was almost 19 years old. She didn’t dare tell Edward this for she knew it would upset him. She went on with her days they way she always did when Edward came, but something about the day of her 19th birthday was off. Edward had never shown up at their usual time and spot like he always did. Instead there was a letter from Edward! It read: Dear Dorothy, I’m sorry that I am not there to be with you on your birthday, my father had found me last night and is making me come home to explain what had happened to me. There is going to be a Ball in my name as a welcome home I would be overjoyed if you would come to it, it is being held at 8:00 don’t be late. Love, Edward. P.s. I also have your present at the castle. Dorothy reread the letter over 3 times before running off to get ready. Dorothy looked in her mirror for the tenth time looking for any part of her reflection that needed to be fixed. Finding nothing she gave a sigh and lifted off, flying towards the castle. At exactly 8:01 Dorothy arrived at the Castle she knocked on the door before entering. Inside her eyes widened at the sight lying out before her. There were golden cups and plates, a huge wooden table, shiny wooden chairs, a HUGE ballroom filled with people dancing and Edward sitting in a golden chair in the middle of it all. Shyly Dorothy walked past the moving feet over to Edwards’s feet. Edward looked down and smiled, he stood from his chair and bent down to pick up Dorothy. “I’m glad you could make it” He said placing Dorothy on his shoulder. “ I have a surprise for you” he walked across the dance floor avoiding the moving bodies of the people dancing, and led her down a short hallway into a circular room. He gently lowered Dorothy to the ground. “Dorothy, for 2 months you have been nothing, but nice to me and I have no way to thank you for that” “You don’t have to” answered Dorothy. “ But I want to so for the last day and a half I have been thinking of ways to thank you in some way, and all I could think of was if I were to spend the rest of my life making it up to you in any way that I can.” “ So, Dorothy what I am asking is will you Marry me?” Edwards’s eyes gleamed with hope, and questioning. Dorothy stood there dumbfound, not sure if she was hearing him right. Dorothy looked up into Edward’s eyes and knew her ears had not deceived her. “Yes.” Whispered Dorothy. Suddenly, the room began to spin and the ground began to shake. With a loud pop a cloud of dust appeared .A few seconds later twinkling lights appeared and surrounded Dorothy. Dorothy was whisked and held in mid air. After the dust had cleared Edward ran over to where Dorothy had been. There before him lied the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. The girl opened her eyes and whispered Edwards name. “Edward?” she questioned “Dorothy is that you?” asked Edwards staring at the girl in front of him. “Yes it’s me Edward.” “This is what I looked like before the witch cast the spell on me.” Explained Dorothy. “So does this mean the spell has been broken?” questioned Edward. “ Yes, and now we can spend the rest of our lives together.” And they all lived happily ever after.
The End!! smile
