KIBA:Your eyes close tightly, as
your mouth opens and you say out loud:
"One."
You slowly open one of your eyes to see, no one other than...
Kiba.
---
Akamaru barks loudly, quickly jumping out of the brown-haired boy's jacket. The white dog scurries over to you, and lays its paws on the rim of your shoes. You glance down, and sweetly smile at the pup. You kneel down and pet the animal's back, and soon the dog rolls over.
"Are you going to play, or not, Akari?!" You hear Ino scream impatiently. You mutter a few curse words under your breath, before standing up. You brush off the imaginary dust on the hem of your shorts, and you eagerly grin at the blond-haired girl. She smiles back, and looks over to Kiba, who's standing only inches in front of you.
A light shade of crimson comes across your face, and you cough innocently, to make time hopefully run by quicker. "Uh...h-hi," you stutter, clinging onto your arm for dear life. You're nervous. You didn't really think you were going to play, did you?
"You okay?" He asks gently, showing sympathy.
You nod in return and slowly walk towards the closet. Kiba follows behind, about a foot away from you. He turns around swiftly, and glares at his canine companion. "You stay here, okay, Akamaru?" The dog barks in return, and lays down on the carpeting. "Good boy," you hear Kiba whisper to his friend. He faces your back again, and you find yourself in the closet.
"We'll be timing you, alright?" Ino immediately closes the door, and you hear her run over to the sofa, only to communicate with the other ninjas.
The boy coughs, before stating, "Sure is dark in here, isn't it?"
"Mmhmm," you agree, as you let your head rest on the wall. "What have I gotten myself into?" You mutter.
You hear Kiba move around a bit, and as your eyes adjust to the darkness, you notice him staring at you. "What do you mean?" He questions, sounding a bit hurt.
"Oh," you say shockingly. "N-No...I didn't mean it like that, Kiba," you whisper to him, hoping In and the others can't hear you. "It's just-," you begin.
"Just what?" He interrupts, sounding more angry. "You don't want to kiss me?" You swear you can hear a low growl, but maybe that's just you and your imagination.
"No! It's not that," you reply calmly, hoping he'll settle down. "I wasn't expecting this to happen at the party, is all." You sigh, happy to hear him relieved that what you said, didn't intend to hurt him.
"Hehe," he chuckles lightly. "Actually, I wasn't expecting this game either. I mean...you're leaving tomorrow, aren't you?"
You nod, hoping he can see the outline of your figure. But just in case, you say, "Yeah. But, I guess this is better. I can get a bit closer to my friends. 'Cause you know...," you roll your eyes.
"Don't say that," he declares strongly. "Don't think that you'll die on the mission." Kiba reaches his arm out, and eventually, his hand lies on top of yours. "You're an amazing fighter. Don't have low self esteem thinking that you won't make it."
You move closer to him, and you end up embracing him in a hug. You shut your eyes tightly, and without wanting, tears begin streaming down your cheeks. "I'm really scared, Kiba," you state, clutching onto his jacket. "This is my first A-rank mission...alone. What if people forget about me?"
He brings a hand to the top of your head, and begins to gently brush through your hair with his fingers. "No one will forget you," he brings you closer. "At least, I won't."
You glance up at him, and smile. "Thanks," you reply. "Just knowing that someone cares, makes me happier."
"I think a lot of people care," he ends.
You gently raise your head and peck him lightly on the cheek. He turns you to face him, and grabs a hold of your shoulders. Immediately, he crashes his lips into yours. At least, only for a moment. As the tears stop cascading down your cheeks, you break the very sweet kiss with Kiba, and give him a tight hug.
"Time's up!"
Just in time...
