This is something i've hand going through my mind a lot lately. I just can't seems to shake it off. I don't think people truly chose who they fall in love with. it just happens. At least when it's real. No one really just wakes up one morning and says "I'm gonna fall in love today and His/Her name is going to be ____". It just doesn't happen that way. Love takes time to mature but for every person that timing is different. It may be a process that you can tell is happening or it could just hit you one day as you're walking and nearly get you run over by a car. sometimes you don't realize how badly you love someone until they are gone or until the other says "I love you". Too much of the time it doesn't even happen then. I think that the only thing about love that you can chose is to either accept it or lock your heart away and shun the concept out of fear. While both have the potential to hurt you the second is the only one that will always hurt you. Unrequited love hurts a lot but not nearly as much as asking yourself the question after many years of pain and numbness, trying to ignore the pain, "What if?, What if I had spoken up? What if I hadn't run away from it? What if I had accepted and chased after what my heart truly wanted?" Sometimes it's hard to be alone and in love, watching the one you love do other things without you and use the phrase "just friends". But then you realize that the things that you want most in the world is not to be happy yourself but for the one you love to be happy and safe. That's all that matters. Once a person truly falls in love, their life changes. the focus changes. Love is hard to live with but I guarantee this, it's even harder to live without.
