I wadded out into the lake till the cool water was waist deep. He continued glaring at the water.
"Oh, comm'on. I won't let anything happen to you. Promise."
He frowned.
"Look, you have to get over this fear sometime. Now is as good as any."
"No, it doesn't matter." He got up off the grass and started to walk away.
"You can't go you're whole like without knowing how to swim!"
He kept walking.
With a huff I got out of the water and ran to him. He didn't turn and I jumped onto his back, almost knocking him forward onto the ground.
"What is your problem, girl?"
"I could ask you the same thing. Now get your butt in the water. Or do I have to drag you there?"
Throwing me onto me back he walked back to the lake, sholders slumped. "This isn't necessary. I don't need to know how to swim."
I had to run to catch up with his long stride, but now I was walking by his side. "What happened to your parents was beyond horrible, but I won't let you drown like they did. Don't you trust me?"
He smiled alittle but stopped at the edge of the lake.
I grabbed his hand. "One step at a time."
