"The weather today will be a high of 82 and a low of 64. Now to Jimmy for traffic." "Thanks, Tom. There's an accident on-" Noel slammed her hand down on the snooze button. She didn't want to go back to school after what happened earlier in the summer, but she knew she had to. She hopped in the shower, and then went to her closet to figure out what to wear. "Hmm.." she thought to herself. "Should I wear my vest, black shirt, and capri outfit? Or my skinny jeans and sunglasses tee?" She grabbed the vest outfit out of her closet and put it on. She grabbed her checkered black and white backpack and went into the kitchen to make her lunch. She heard honking and ran out to catch the bus. She got on and sat on an empty seat. A few minutes went by and Sam got on the bus. Noel but her backpack in the empty seat next to her as Sam glanced at her. Sam slowly made her way to the back of the bus.
Noel's first period was Geometry. She was really good at math. She sat in a desk near the back. Then, a guy walked in. His dark hair was hanging in front of his face. She could see he had green eyes. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a white belt, a Green Day shirt and had snakebites. He walked back and stood by the empty seat next to Noel. "Is this seat taken?" he said, loudly. "Nope.." He sat down. "My name's Jack," he said, motioning his hand towards her. She shook it and said, "Noel. Nice to meet you," smiling. "You too," he said.
"Now, class. My name is Ms. Guiding," the teacher said as she wrote it on the whiteboard. A chuckle went through the class. She smirked. "I'd like you all to introduce yourselves to the person next to you and then move to the next person after a minute. Got it?" "Yep." said the whole class. Noel turned to James and said, "Well I guess I don't have to introduce myself to you.. " "Yeah.." he laughed. She turned to the person across from her. "Hey, I'm Noel." "I'm Megan." "Nice to meet you, Megan!" She went through the whole class. By the time everyone was back in their seat, It was time to go. James stopped Noel before she went out the door. "Hey, meet me on the benches at lunch, kay?" "Okay." she said as she walked out the door. First period didn't go so bad! She was quite happy, actually.
At lunch, she went to the benches, where Jack was sitting.
"Hey, Noel!" "Hey, Jack." She sat down next to him and took out her juice box and started drinking it. James dug his hang into his paper bag and pulled out the same juice box. "Nice juice box." Noel laughed. He looked to see she had the same one and laughed, "Thanks." He jammed the straw in and started to drink it. "Soo.. tell me more about yourself, Jack." He set down his juice box. "Well.. My parents are divorced, I have 2 older brothers and a younger sister, I love to cook, I'm in a band, I love to read, I used to live in Vegas, and.. yeah.. there's my life story.. " "Wow.." she said. They sat in silence for a few moments. "So what do you do in the band?" "I play bass and I'm the lead singer." "That's totally cool!" "Yeah.." he smiled. The bell rang. "Well I'll catch you later." James said. "If I fall.." she thought, but just said, "Yeah."
The next day, she was talking to Jack. "So do you have AIM?" she asked. "Yeah. it's touchmylarry08." he blushed. "'touch-my-larry? What the hell?" He laughed. "It's an inside joke between me and my friend Tommy." "Riiiight.." she laughed. "Mine's teenagedirtbag7." "Teenage Dirtbag? I love that song!!" "Me too! It's like, my theme song. Mostly because my name is in it, though.." "Yeah.. " he said.
They walked to first period together, where they had to take a test. Noel leaned over and whispered "Can you believe this? A test.. on the second day of school!!" to James. "I know! It's ridiculous!" The teacher heard them and glared. "No cheating on the test. It's just to see how much you know already so you don't need to talk." They both rolled their eyes.
At lunch, Noel went to the benches to find James, talking to his friend Tommy. Tommy had long-ish blonde hair, blue eyes, and snakebites. She was around the corner of the building by the benches, where she began listening to their conversation.
"Yeah. She's totally cool. She's one of my besties." "Really. What's her name?" "Noel." She blushed. "Like the chick in the song Teenage Dirtbag?" "Yep." "Didn't that chick go out with Brendan last year?" "I don't know who Brendan is so I don't know.. I don't know that much about her. She's just really cool." "Is she hot?" "Yeah.." "Are you gonna go out with her?" "Woah there, Tommy. I just met her yesterday. She's just a friend." "Suure." Tommy rolled his eyes. Jack smiled and punched Tommy in the arm. "Ouch!" "Sorry." Jack laughed. Noel walked out and pretended she didn't know what they were talking about. "Hey Jack. Hi.." "Tommy." he said, extending his hand out to meet hers. "Nice to meet you, Tommy. I'm Noel." "You're Noel?" "I'm pretty sure I am.." "Woah, Jack. You were right.. well, bye!" Tommy walked away. "Right about what?" Noel asked, smiling. "Ooh, nothing.." James smiled. The bell rang. "Talk to you on AIM later?" "Yep! Bye!" she said.
When she got home, she got right on the computer. She already had an IM waiting for her from James.

Noel got to the mall and saw Jack, waiting for her outside. He was holding his white ray bands in his hands. Noel looked down at her checkered ones, bringing back the memories of when her and Sam were friends..
"Hey Jack." she said walking up to him. "Hey."
The first thing they did was go into bath and body works and smell every spray there was. They could barely breathe by the time they got out from the fumes and the laughing. They then went into American Eagle to point and laugh at all the preppy people. They read every hallmark card there was just to pass time. They then went into their favorite store.. Hot Topic. They tried on all the skinny jeans, bought 3 pairs each, and then Noel wanted to take a big risk.
She was going to get snakebites.
Three ice cream cones later, her lip didn't hurt that much.
She knew her mom was going to kill her.
"What am I gonna do about my mom?" she asked James.
He looked around.. and smiled, almost as if a light bulb popped right up out of his head. "I know.." he ran into Pac Sun, and came out holding a checkered scarf. "Wear this!" "Good idea!" "I know. I'm full of 'em.." he said. He helped her wrap the scarf around making sure the snakebites weren't visible.
When she got home, she tried to make her way right up to her room. Her mom was in the kitchen, cutting tomatoes. "Hey honey, is that you?" her mom called out to her. Muffled from the scarf, she shouted, "Yeah, mom. I'm home." "Can you come help me cut tomatoes?" "Gross, mom! You know I hate tomatoes!!" "Then can you cut the onions?" "I have to study!" she said, running up the stairs. She closed the door to her room and let out a sigh of relief. She took off her scarf and put it in her closet. She got on her computer, where she had an awaiting IM.

touchmylarry08: that's good. but you do know that you have to leave those in for at least a month, right? she'd gonna find out sometime.
teenagedirtbag7: true, but not sometime soon.
touchmylarry08: if you say so. hey, maybe she won't be that mad.
teenagedirtbag7: no way. she's gonna freak.
teenagedirtbag7: hold on, someone just knocked on my door.
It was her mom. "Sweetie? Dinner will be ready in about ten minutes okay?" "I'm not hungry!" "I have some important news I want to share with you and your brother! You're coming to dinner in ten minutes and that's final!"
teenagedirtbag7: crap! my mom says I have to go eat dinner. what am I gonna do??
touchmylarry08: wow.. i didn't think about that.. did you try the 'i'm not hungry' thing?
teenagedirtbag7: yeah. she said she had something important to tell me and my brother.
touchmylarry08: then wear the scarf and just stay to listen.
teenagedirtbag7: good idea! thanks. i'll see you tomorrow at school. bye!

When Noel got downstairs, her whole family was sitting at the dining table waiting for her. "Hey, sweetie.. " her mom said in a creepy, unusual tone. "Have a seat." Noel sat down next to her brother. "Uhm.. Why are you wearing a scarf?" asked her dad. "I have a.. cold sore.." "Oh." "Phew.." she thought.
Noel's mom grabbed her dad's hand. "Kids.. we have an announcement.." Noel looked at her brother. He was playing with his toes. He was only 8. She looked back at her mom who had a creepy smile on her face.
"We're having a baby."
Noel was screaming inside her head.
She just quietly walked up to her room, locked the door and flopped down on her bed. She screamed into her pillow. Why another? Was she not good enough? That had to be why they had her brother. Someone knocked on her door. "Sweetie, are you okay?" It was her dad. "Go away!" "Please, can we just talk??" She put the scarf on again. She unlocked her door and opened it the slightest bit. "What do you want?""I want to talk.." He walked in her room and sat on her bed. "I'm sorry if you don't want this baby to happen, but it's too late now. Your mother and I felt you and your brother were ready. I just want you to understand that we just want a bigger family." He walked out. She knew he didn't care. If he did, he wouldn't have left her mom after she was born. Noel didn't want this baby to happen.. but it wasn't up to her.
The next day at school, Noel wasn't her usual self. She avoided all of her friends. When Jack tried to talk to her, she'd just turn away. He finally went over to her when she was sitting on a bench alone at lunch. "Noel, can you please tell me what's wrong??" he pleaded. She looked down to the ground. He crouched down so he was the focus of her attention. "Please??" She looked into his deep green eyes. He really cared, unlike her father. She slid off the bench and wrapped her arms around James. He hugged her, knowing she really needed someone to be there for her.
"I.. I just don't know what to do.. " she stuttered out. He rubbed her back soothingly as she cried on his shoulder, balling his shirt in her hands.
"it's okay.. It'll all be okay.." he said.
After school, Jack came over to Noel's house. She told him everything and he just sat there listening, with the occasional comment or two. She just hugged him. She needed him to be there for her and he was. He came over when Noel revealed to her mom she got the piercings and made everything better. Every time her mom had a doctors appointment, Jack would come over. They'd play games and do homework and such. One time he came over, they decided to play Life. Noel had her car with four people pegs in it. Then it landed on get another baby and she started crying again.
"Why am I not good enough for my parents??" she sobbed.
"You are. You're perfect. They just don't realize it." he told her.
"No I'm not!! I'm everything but perfect! I'm a screw up.." she said, tears flowing freely.
"No you're not! You're smart, pretty, talented and just an all around good person!"
"You're only saying that because you're my friend.."
That was the exact opposite. Jack was dying to tell her he was in love with her. But he knew it would mess everything up.
"No. I mean it." he kissed her head, as if it would make everything better.
"Thank you, Jacky-poo." Jack hugged her and let her cry. Most of his shirts were mascara stained now from coming over to Noel's house. And he didn't mind one bit. He loved hanging out with Noel, even if that just meant letting her cry on him. At school, she would usually only hang out with him. She had made some friends in her other classes, but none like Jack.
Then one day her mom was screaming. The baby was making an arrival. Noel was sitting outside of the delivery room trying to call Jack. No answer.
"This is Jack. Jack is not here. Call Jack later. BYE!" said his answering machine.
Noel was crying. She left him 12 messages. Where was he the day she needed him most? One more call, she thought. She scrolled through her contacts once more, landing on 'Jack-Attack' and hit call. "Hello?" he answered, sounding flustered. "Jack! Where are you?!?!" "Noel?! I'm driving to the hospital. My mom was in a car crash." She could hear the pain in his voice. "Oh.." was all she said. "I have to go. I'm almost at the hospital. I'll talk to you later." he said and hung up. Noel felt kind of selfish. She was so worried about herself she hadn't even thought about Jack. She wiped her eyes and walked down the the help desk. She found his mom's recovery room and got some flowers. She looked in the window and saw Jack hugging his mother so she waited outside. When jack came out, he immediately engulfed Noel in a hug.
They stayed like that for a while before he pulled back and said, "So.. why did you come here?" She wasn't sure if she should say or not, but she did. "My mom's having the baby upstairs.." she said, pain evident in her voice. "Oh.. I'm.. I'm so sorry.. " "It's okay. Really. How's your mom doing?" she said, changing the subject. "She broke her arm in two places and fractured a rib." he said looking at the floor. "Oh my.." she said. They sat outside the door of Jack's mom's room talking about things to keep their minds off what was actually going on.
After a while, Jack said what Noel didn't want to hear.
"Should you go check on your mom and the baby?" A tear rolled down her cheeck and she quickly wiped it away. "I.. I guess.." she said, standing up. He stood up next to her. "Good luck with.. that.. " he said, not really knowing what to say. She just nodded to refrain from crying. They hugged and she made her way to the elevator. When she got in, she looked back to Jack and immediately started crying.
