Sometimes I feel like Glue. In the game Rock Paper Scissors, there always has to be something to keep it all together, right? I mean, it can’t just “stay” like that forever. So, I’m the glue. I keep everyone together in one piece. It gets annoying. Why do people HAVE to find ways to try and trample over everyone else when they know they’re going to lose? Rock, you’re never going to beat paper, and Scissors, you’re never going to beat Rock. Paper, don’t even THINK about beating the scissors; it’s not going to happen.

What about the ties? In the game, there’s always times when the rock ends up fighting against the rock, or scissors against scissors and paper teaming up against the paper. Usually, people at that point just restart the game and try again. The glue in this situation is left patching up the old fight and the new fight before it even begins. On the rare occasion, people count the tie and just let it sit there. Here, the glue is torn apart, forced to choose sides, and create peace. This only makes the glue wear out faster and is completely unnecessary if the glue prefers to survive.

Being the glue comes with the responsibilities of making sure everyone gets along. Sometimes, it gets dried out and breaks the hold it has. When that happens, it just gets replaced. It’s served its purpose, no point in holding on to it. Of course, there’s the times when the glue is “picked off” intentionally and gets rid of on purpose. But nobody pays attention long enough to place the blame. Then again, the glue is supposed to make sure nobody passes the blame from one person to another…

So, what does that mean about me? Or what about the other people that are known as “glue”? Let the rock, paper, and scissors people go buy some more glue from the store while you sit in the trash can alone? Maybe, Glue will get lucky and get eaten by a 3 year old instead! Oh, the joy of being Glue.
