In my box of memories,
I find,
Four unburned candles,
Frozen in time.
One for each year,
You had known me,
One for each year,
We had each other,
But didn’t see.
I have never met,
Someone like you,
Who breaths my air,
And thinks like I do.
You are from my planet,
As you put it once,
We share an understanding,
A strong bond.
I wish another candle,
I had,
To add to the four,
And the memories we have.
This year,
Hasn’t been our strongest,
I’ve hurt you,
More than you’ll ever show it.
I don’t think it’s fair,
That the candles are unburned,
Because they don’t represent,
The lessons we have learned.
How we have grown,
Matured and made decisions.
How we have over come,
Our insecurities,
To become beautiful young women.
You aren’t going to be with me,
For much longer,
For to a distant land,
You shall travel.
To live your dream,
To fulfill your purpose,
And I shall miss you,
Though I know I don’t show it.
You mean a lot to me,
And I wish I could somehow reveal it.
But, instead, to you I am cold,
Like an enemy,
Like a lost soul,
I always apologize,
Though I fear it will be too late,
I don’t want to lose you,
You are a friend,
Who can help me get through the years.
But when you are here,
I am cold and heartless,
So when you leave,
Will our friendship survive it?
I am selfish,
I think only of our difference,
I strive to protect myself,
To keep my heart guarded.
And in that process,
I hurt you every time.
And I wonder this time,
If I ask for forgiveness,
Will you decline?
Time is against me,
For soon you leave,
And I don’t want you to leave,
When our friendship,
Is so unhealthy.

If this time,
