I was woken by the sound of kicking my cat off my bed and him crashing to the floor.
...
So I reffed two games today. First one was U11 girls: Merrymeeting vs. Velocity. Second was U12 girls: Merrymeeting vs. Coastal.
But before that I had to run out to Dicks and get some black shorts, cuz all mine are blue.
I got there thirty minutes before the first game, even though they said to be there twenty minutes before. I was nervous..
But of course, the two guy refs showed up five minutes before they started the game... >_>
I think one of them was the Jones in college, Cooper Jones's bro? The other looked like some high school dude. Both were kind of the chillax type.
We got paid beforehand. $30. Pretty big haul for me.
First game was easy. You could basically jog alongside them. But since we never practiced the flagging at Orono, I had a hard time getting the hang of it...
Second game was harder, because they were twice as fast and the offense was always right on the defense. Because I had spectator line both times (so I wouldn't also have to concentrate on subs) this one parent dude yelled at me twice. He kept saying I wasn't calling the offsides, even though I was constantly running with the last defender. They weren't offsides! evil
But it's a lot harder than I thought. You have to concentrate on your endline, field line, and all of the defense huggers that, if they ARE offsides, it's only by a foot or so.
And I kept wanting to give tips to the goalies but had to hold my tongue so people couldn't say I was favoring. The Merrymeeting U12 goalie had a strong kick but it went straight up. I wanted to tell her to lean over it... >_>
Took a nap.
When Jen came home with mum, we celebrated her birthday with cake and presents.
Overall, not a bad day.
Wish I had gone to Borders tho... emo

ASK YOURSELF in the most silent hour of your night: must I write? Dig into yourself for a deep answer. And if this answer rings out in assent, if you meet this solemn question with a strong, simple "I must," then build your life in accordance with this necessity..." - Rainer Maria Rilke
