good news! i didn't get kicked out of track!
that's good cause my parents would have killed me if i had


Edit - It's been more than 10 years since this. I want to give myself some backstory when I inevitably forget this in my old age.
I used to do a lot of parkour/tricking in high school with a friend. I got pretty good at doing flips off of stuff. My friend got pretty good too, but hard a hard time controlling his body while in the air.
We were doing pole vault in track Freshman and Sophomore year. We ended up both not liking it very much because we had a somewhat abusive coach. Both of us decided to skip track at least half of our practice days and go jump around in the padded wrestling area above the gym instead. This was all great fun until the day we decided to bring a large padded mat to the gym floor and jump off the tall bleachers onto it.
It was a nice mat, and we were doing all kinds of flips off the bleachers, which were probably about 8-9 feet tall. My friend did a backflip, which is normally not a problem, but he was a little bit too excited and over-rotated while in the air. He landed on his upper back, almost directly on his neck. He didn't seem seriously injured, but had some discomfort and couldn't move totally normally. Turns out he compressed a couple vertebrae.
Due to the injury during what was supposed to be track practice, our coach had to get involved, then our parents. Everyone was quite mad at first.
Not much came out of this, luckily. My friend recovered slowly. We weren't kicked out of track. We went to more practices but both decided to leave it at the end of the spring. My parents seemed okay with things after learning how unhappy I was with track at the time

Long story short - I'm just a lot better than my friend at backflips
