Renil smiled in her usual way, almost childlike but far from innocently. She sat beside the corpse of the woman they'd found, the cold surrounding the woman bothered her little as she kicked her legs bored. Her Golden eyes glowed with amusement the Garnette leader had been wishing for challenge since the Council had denounced the slaughter and manipulations of mortals. A decree that the demoness still believed had been aimed solely to hinder her own clan by the traitorous heiress of Clan Crescent...
Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
The redhead giggled as her thoughts flowed from her anger to more inane thoughts thin pale fingers toying with the golden pendant she wore attached to a choker bearing a large ruby and studded with smaller garnets, the heirloom of the Clan Garnette. The pendant was a gift from her teacher and his son, a gift crafted by her dear Silent Bird, the bobble was crafted with vines of living metal. Always twisting and turning, all hoping for her touch, all hiding her dearest treasure.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
The chimes of the Latio Clock Tower should be ringing now she thought. Causing a grin to over take her features for a moment, the grin of the damned one might say. There was no sound times like this reminded her of a song that the priest had taught her as a child.
"The clock tower chimes its mournful tune.
Lamenting the years that have crossed its face.
Yet it's hands are as silent as they are swift.
Those who hear, the old ones say, shan't be whole again.
Oh, you foolish mortal, strive for what can never be held.
Can only concede unto fate its due.
For nary more shalt the chimes ring for you.
Nevermore shall they call the pretty birds and bright skies.
Only Darkness and chasms, lie in wait for you when you close your eyes.
No more and never again can what was broken become whole,
Never again shall it be as it was."
Renil's soft voice did not echo in the cold empty room nor did she seem to cast a shadow under the pale blue fluorescent lighting, it was almost as if she wasn't there.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock.
