I would say Gaia in particular ruined the words for me, but I admit I'd been irritated with their usage since before then.
So:
Kawaii - The granddaddy of all irritating words. Kawaii. Something I learned at anime conventions: Fangirls either horribly mispronounce this word or SHRIEK it in a "cute", nasal falsetto that is several octaves above their normal speaking voice. It is wrong to be amused when people mispronunce this as "Kowai", but I am a wrong person.
Baka - For some reason, whenever I see/hear someone calling someone else "Baka", they always end up looking stupider than the stupid person who's getting "BAKA!!!111111111" flung at them. If you're going to mix and match your languages and just HAVE to use "Baka", I suggest the following phrase: "Baka vaca caca." Fun for the whole family.
Spork - Laughing at sporks is like laughing at a clown. That clown has been brutally beaten to death.
-chan - I think it's hearing it misproununced brutally at conventions that made me snap at this one. LET ME USE A TOILET ANALOGY.
-CHAN DOES NOT RHYME WITH CAN. -CHAN SOMEWHAT RHYMES WITH JOHN, DEPENDING ON DIALECT.
I do not approve of the usage of -chan to refer to people over the age of eighteen, either. I especially do not like having -chan attached to my name. I am twenty-one. I am not cute. I don't want to be cute.
Wai - Is "Yay" really that difficult to say?
Neko - Is "CAT" really that difficult to say? I think even "KITTY" is easier to say than Neko. And it's not "Neeko" or "Nikko", either.
-
There seriously needs to be a law requiring all citizens to be able to pronounce a word before they are legally allowed to use it.
Not only would it cut down on fan Japanese, but it would also force people to pronounce "Mischievous" correctly.
This post will likely grow as I think of more words. Please feel free to comment with words that the internet has ruined for you. XD~

So, around my other anime-loving friends, we'll go "wai!" or "baka." or whatever. My best friend's cat Maxwell (named after the Gundam Wing character) is always a neko, because... I don't know, he is. XD;
But outside of that group? Never, never, NEVER. And never in Japantown, either. XD; Because I don't know what the hell I'm doing half the time. It's a way to have fun with friends, not to be tEh kEwLiEz, or to think I have any knowledge of the language whatsoever, because I don't.
The only Japanese word that occasionally slips into my not-with-fangirls vocabulary is 'hai'. Or occasionally my friends and I will randomly use Japanese phonetics on some words, because I think Japanese phonetics are interesting. I'd probably go learn the language if I wasn't so scared of kanji. *shudder*
Anyway.
