What ever happened to the people that no longer care? What made them become so.... so apathetic? It never seems enough anymore. They seem to care for others, but not the right people. Why does it always turn out that way?
Its worse for the people that do care. Not only do they worry, but they get hurt. Why does caring for the apathetic hurt so much? Why don't we quit caring and move on? We can't. It's as simple as that.
We may say we will or want to. But try as we might, we never can. They may speak, say harsh things, maybe even make us feel small and insignificant, however that's not the worse part. The worse part is when they act like they care, just for one small moment.
Even worse is how you can be mean to them, or completely befriend them and be nice for moments . Then they pretend to care. That's the worst part of it all. Sometimes it may not be easy to show you care, but perhaps that apathetic person knows its hard. But till, they never seem to figure out you care. They never pay enough attention to notice.
Its the people that care, that wait for the day when they can leave and no longer be near the person. Yet still, they yearn for the person to know they do care, even if the person doesn't. It's that pain that kills and brings forth tears. It makes a person yearn for the comfort of the one they love.
But the void left in the midst, will never and can never be filled. Not until the apathetic person manages to fill it. The caring just want them to know that they are there for them and being the way they are, jaded and apathetic, is no way to live.
Yet the apathetic person finds comfort in others. In those out of the group, in some way that they fell able to be themselves. They no longer feel afraid to show themselves. They feel they can't do that around others.
The one that cares, sometimes just wants that person to care. To be the person they remembered. They want that person to be themselves again around them; To no longer be the apathetic person they have become.
But sometimes that dream is a lost cause. The apathetic person moves far away without ever knowing. Or the caring finally moves on to a distant place. They move on, find a better to spend their life, and live happily. They ignore the void as it slowly disappears, becoming smaller and smaller. Only when forgotten can the void disappear without the apathetic's help.
Otherwise the fate is better and the apathetic learns to care again. The caring fill the void and rejoice. The two live their life truly complete. There is finally the understanding that was wanted. Life continues to go on as if the whole thing was a story, movie, or some far off fairy tale.
If only all the tales of the apathetic had a happy ending.
