- You pushed the bangs out of my face and rested your hand under my chin. "I don't know what to say to you anymore." You looked so sad, I could barely take it. I held my trembling hand on top of yours on my face. "All I need to know is you love me. If you can tell me that then things can go back to normal." Ever since my dad had passed I couldn't trust anyone but you. And you seemed so distant lately, so I pulled away from you. My last fragment of sanity pulled like a band-aid, slowly and painfully. You told me as you pulled me close "I will always love you. You of all people should know by now that I would do anything for you within my power." I looked into your eyes and wanted to believe you. I just stared into your eyes fading into them like I used to. I knew we had a future together, but it would take work. And work takes energy and that energy had been taken from me the day I learned that the person I looked up to most in the world died. I could feel myself leaning in for the kiss, but I knew I shouldn't. You knew too because you pulled me into a hug instead. Your warmth surrounded me on this cloudy day. You were always my sunshine, my life since my dad passed. You said once again "I will always love you." As I started to pull away, you grabbed my hand and we walked. We walked into the fields where we first met under the oak tree. We sat in silence, and I was complacent. Things would be okay, eventually.
