Journal,
Life is a tender thing, and easily molested. There is always something that can go wrong. Often, the slightest and smallest mishaps are the most troubling, and as tiny letters most tire our eyes, so do these lite vexations most disturb us and cloud our day, if we let them.
Humans are extreamly fragile animals. They can wake with a song on their lips and joyful anticipation of the hours ahead in their hearts, and then allow harsh words from another human or snarled traffic or a spilled cup of tea to ruin their entire day.
Never permit anyone, or anything, to rain on your parade. These will always be detractors, critics, or cynics who are envious of you, your skills, your work, and your way of life. Ignore them. They are like a bell at a grade crossing clanging loudly and vainly as the train roars by. Your hours and your days are much too precious to be disturbed by this jealous group who never see a bad one. They are human owls, vigilant in darkness and blind to the light, mousing for vermin but never seeing noble game.
No one can ever distract yu from being happy and doing your best... unless you give them permission to do so. Remember that he who can suppress a moment's anger may prevent a day of sorrow. The little misfortunes nd stinging remarks of each day, if dwelled upon and magnified, can do you great harm, but if you ignore and dismiss them from your mind, they will gradually lose their forse. Detractors are everywhere. Remember that envy, like a worm, is always attracted to the fairest apple. Those who despair to rise in distinction by their own effots are happy if others can be happy with themselves.
You cannot make progress in your life as a hermit, and so you must make contact with the world and its parade of misfortunes and critics, yet you need never allow either to rain on your parade. Turn away from the envious.
Never return their envy and venom with your own heat. Remember that kindling a fire for your enemy is like burning down your own home to get rid of a rat. Never swoop to his level. "I shall allow no man to belittle my soul by making me hate him." Think of those words next time someone attempts to drag you down to his level.
Nothing external can have any power over me. Let that be your motto and it will see you peacefully through any day.
Quote: "It's a great day, isn't it?" "What's so great about it?" "Well, sir, you just try missing a few, and you'll find out!"
You control your life. If anyone rains on your parade and ruins your day, it is only because you allowed it. Never again, right? ~Ruby J.
