Taking a cue from my best friend, Katie, I've decided to add this little excerpt from a journal entry we did in English today. You see, Mr. Haugen (my teacher) usually gives us 4-letter words to write about...thoughts, feelings, definitions, etc. etc. And today's was about books. I think it was actually pretty good, so here it is, in all it's glory:

BOOK
I have read dozens, hundreds, thousands of books in my lifetime, heard millions of stories, and yet, no two are exactly the same. Details change and shift, characters grow, epic battles and new dialogue are added, weaving a new tale into the latest best-selling novel. Books are a way for authors to express their hopes, dreams, and fantasies in a way that is considered an art form, the art of writing and the written word. Books also provide an escape to the reader, a vacation from the harsh realities of the common everyday life. Stories are passed on, passed down, read and reread, and dtill more arise. Only a choice few are recorded and bound into books and volumes, but all stories, whether held within a book or inside someon's mind are precious, and deserve to be shared with the world.
