Eye of the Beholder
When people see him
Hurtful words come to mind
Dirty, poor, misfit, pitiful,
Someone who doesn't belong;
They stare at him like his life is a sin,
Like a hazard to modern society
And it just ain't right,
they think he's wrong,
though in reality he's better than them.
Whenever I see him
Innocence comes to mind
That sheer wide-eyed innocence
Like a young child,
and a smile that makes life worthwhile;
I gaze at him like he's a masterpiece,
no matter how poor and grimy he is,
And that's what's right
When the old saying came true,
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Someone who doesn't belong;
