Imperialism is a way of life. There is rarely a choice in be3ing involved in it-a country either dominates or is dominated, and this has been repeated throughout history. While there are a select few that stay removed from everything such as Switzerland, there isn’t many. Imperialism has been happening throughout the globe and throughout time. One of the countries that imperialized a lot was Japan. After Japan came out of it’s isolation, they rapidly picked up western technologies, cultures and such. It’s large fishing industries provided recruiting grounds for the army, which soon became one of the most formidable and powerful armies in the world. Japan took over several countries, including Manchuria, and Korea. Japan, despite it’s size ended up in a war with Russia, who’s extensive armies and such were sure to win, but in the end were defeated by Japan, it’s naval forces nearly wiped out in the process. Another country that was big on imperialism was Great Britain. Great Britain took over many places as well, to the point where they had territory across the globe-as the saying went, the sun never set on the British Empire. However, not all countries were the ones to take over-some such as India, were used for nothing more the gain of their rulers. Britain took their resources, destroyed their hand weaving industry, ruined their agriculture and tried to change many of their beliefs. They attempted to convert them to Christianity and outlawed some of their customs. They gave little care to traditions and tried to erase many of their ways. Imperialism is a plays a big part of history and is found throughout history. There aren’t many that are left untouched by it, and it is simply just a way of life.
