(Story: Continuation)
IV Christian arrived at his dorm building once again and found his way to his dorm room. He walked into his dorm room, and noticed that someone else’s stuff was set down by the empty bed. He pondered who it could be for a moment then finally laid down on his dorm room bed to rest for a while. He laid back and stared at the ceiling for a while, thinking about everything that had been happening lately. He wondered what was up with that Evan person, and if Kara still loved him even though he felt as though he was changing somehow. After a while of thinking, he heard his window move a bit, but paid no mind after seeing that nobody seemed to be there. After he looked away and relaxed again, he heard a sudden crash through the window. He jumped up and panicked for a moment, looking over and noticing Evan on the floor in front of him. He stared down for a moment, then Evan looked up at him.
“Oh, what luck!” He said as he hopped back onto his feet “Howdy, roommate!” Evan fell back onto his bed and then sat up and looked at Christian. Christian looked puzzled at Evan, and then addressed him.
“So wait a minute…You’re my roommate?” he looked a little confused and shocked at the same time. “It would appear so,” said Evan with a grin. “Actually I’ve been meaning to talk to you,” said Christian to Evan “You think you can stick around..?” he looked at Evan curiously. Evan looked back at him with a smirk, then quickly turned back to the window. “Hmmm..Well, g’bye then!” and with that, Evan leapt out the window. Christian, already feeling frustrated by the sudden retreat of Evan, jumped out after Evan in a bold move, not even knowing if he’d survive the fall. Evan landed on the ground and went dashing off, and surprisingly Christian landed completely unharmed as well, despite the fact that he was falling from about three stories up. Christian went dashing after Evan, not seeming to have any problem keeping up. After several minutes of chasing all around the campus, Evan finally came to a screeching halt, catching Christian somewhat by surprise. Christian tripped over from the sudden stop, then got right back up and looked at Evan with a frustrated look on his face. “Now you listen here! I’m not about to play your games! Don’t screw with me! Now I know that you know something I don’t, and I want to know why you keep following me around and why you seem so interested in me all the time. What’s been going on with me lately?!” huffed Christian, trying to keep his breath. Evan looked over at Christian with a large smirk on his face, his eyes seemed to show that erie black glow as he looked at him. “You sound so pathetic..” He said with a slight chuckle “There’s nothing ‘wrong’ with you at all. I’ve been wondering about you all this time because I wasn’t sure, but now it’s fairly obvious to me what’s going on here.” Evan walked up closer to Christian. “What do you mean?” asked Christian, backing up a little “Just get to the point!” he backed himself against a wall. Evan looked around for a moment, then looked back to Christian. “Listen here and listen well kid, what you’re about to hear may appear odd to you at first, and I must insist you thoroughly open your mind before I go any further, lest you label me some kind of lunatic.” Evan said as his grin turned into a serious look. “Alright, fine, just say it already..” said Christian, still looking confused as to what exactly Evan was leading up to. “Very well then, I’ll continue. First, a question: Have you ever in the past pondered if human kind is really ‘alone’?” asked Evan, peering directly into Christian’s eyes. “Well…I guess sort of..” replied Christian nervously, almost stuttering “What’s that got to do with any of this..?” he shook a bit. “Everything,” replied Evan “I say this because, we are perhaps unlike the humans. You and I are ‘different’ I suppose you could say.” He paced around a bit. “Now then, I suppose you’ve been wondering about your recent ‘cravings’ and other odd little ‘addictions’?” he looked back over at Christian. “Well, yea, of course,” replied Christian, getting a little more comfortable with Evan as time went by. “Well then,” said Evan “Allow me to explain to you exactly what you are then. I suggest you sit back for a while, this may take some time.” He leaned against the wall and stared at Christian. Christian did exactly as Evan suggested and listened. “Now then, there’s been much speculation about our existence..About the existence of a rare ‘newer’ species among the humans, but many have dismissed it as a simple myth. I can explain to you exactly why you are the way you are, and what that makes you and I so ‘different’. The fact that people don’t seem to like being around you, the constant need for certain emotional surroundings, and more importantly the need for blood.” His look deepened. “Now then…Finally to the point. For lack of a better word, throughout time, we’ve called ourselves ‘vampires’.” Just then Christian’s eyes widened, he became shocked and stared at Evan, completely freaked out at what Evan had just said. “V-vampires…? I-it can’t be…Th-th-that’s all just a myth! How can this be possible…?” said Christian, shaking and now growing frightened as Evan’s explanation went on. “Well, if you’re a vampire, then prove it! Do something! What are you doing out in the sunlight then?” Christian got up and began asking Evan several other questions, still looking a bit frightened. Evan chuckled, and then the chuckle turned into a laugh before he finally replied to Christian. “So now what? I suppose you’re expecting me to have sparkly skin and have ‘superpowers’, be ‘immortal’ and wear my hair in a ridiculous slicked back fashion?” he laughed again “I’m sorry, but that’s not how this works. If you’d give me the time to explain I’d be glad to explain it to you.” He went back to being serious. “Alright, fine, explain yourself. I’d be happy to hear it,” replied Christian. “Good then,” continued Evan “As I was saying…For reasons yet to be explained by science, some people are born with a special ‘difference’ that has made us what we are. For reasons that even most of us can’t explain, we have a constant craving for blood, energy off of a person, or even sometimes, both,” he paused for a moment “Now then, I suppose you’re wondering what I meant by ‘energy’, right? Well allow me to explain that little detail as well.” The conversation began. “I’ll put this as concisely as possible: ‘energy’ or the ‘aura’ of a person is normally taken by psychic vampires, as opposed to the more traditional ‘blood drinking’ done by what are called Sanguinarian Vampires. I’m quite sure you know about them already through certain myths and legends. Just think of Sanguinarians as those people, but without the ridiculous fantasy elements. We’re really not that different from normal humans, we just have certain ‘special needs’ that set us apart from them. You see, not everything about Vampires is completely untrue. We do have certain ‘properties’ about us that make us ‘special’ I suppose you could say. We make much quicker healers than normal people, although most just set that aside as nothing much. Of course look at me, I’m ranting your ears off aren’t I? I’ll leave the rest up to you to look up if you’re so interested. After all, it’s getting late isn’t it? You should be heading back to the dorm before you worry your girlfriend shouldn’t you?” Hhe smirked at Christian, tipped his hat, and again without a word he headed off on his way. Christian once again did exactly as Evan suggested and headed back towards his dorm building. Christian arrived at his dorm building, then headed to his room and lay down on his bed once again. He stared at the ceiling and pondered everything that Evan had said to him. “Vampires…How could this possibly even be real? He must be joking…Still...he seemed rather serious. Perhaps it’s worth a look…I mean, it seems like it’ll help explain what’s going on with me anyways…” Christian pondered in his mind for a while before finally pulling out his laptop and going to work with some research of his own… V Christian spent all night researching and looking up what he had to to gain understanding. He found much insight as to what Evan was meaning when he explained things, and was able to match up many of the syptoms to himself. Christian had finally come to terms with himself, and had accepted himself for what he was, a vampire. He had decided it was time to find Evan again. Later the next morning, it was time for school yet again, so first thing Christian headed off to his classes. Ever since he realized what he was he couldn’t stop thinking about it. He wondered what would happen to him, how Kara would react, and how he himself would cope with it. For hours and hours he thought about it, then finally by lunch period he went out to look for Evan to have another talk with him. When Christian found Evan, Evan was underneath a tree out in the schoolyard seeming to take a nap. Christian approaced Evan cautiously, in hopes of not angering him while he was asleep. When he got close enough to Evan, Evan’s eyes shot open and he looked over at Christian, seeming to be wide awake, as if he knew Christian was there. He smirked at Christian and sat up a bit. “You wanted to speak with me I assume?” said Evan, still with the grin on his face. “Yes, if that’s alright with you that is,” replied Christian, seeming to be a little more comfortable around Evan now. “Well then, what’s this about? More questions?” Asked Evan to Christian. “Not exactly,” replied Christian “I’m here to let you know that I’ve come to terms with myself, and I accept what I am, what we are.” He seemed confident and comfortable admitting this to Evan. Evan smirked back at him and gave him a pat on the back “Well my friend, well done. You’ll find it’s not so bad after all, you’ll get used to it over time. Anyways, shouldn’t we both be going to our respective classes?” said Evan as he hopped back to his feet. Christian nodded, and they went their separate ways to their classes.
After another long tiring day of school, the bell rang a final time again and Christian headed out to find Kara. When he found Kara she was sitting down in the schoolyard in the center of the campus with a strange figure Christian had never seen before. He was a strange fellow indeed, not looking to be the brightest, nor the best looking person around. He stood about the same height as Christian and always had the most peculiar look on his face. He was wearing a blue shirt with black pants and his hair was a bit sloppy. Christian sat down next to Kara and the stranger, embracing Kara as he sat down.
“Who’s this?” asked Christian as he turned his head to Kara. “Oh him? I’m sorry I didn’t introduce you two before, this is an old friend of mine, his name’s Jonathan,” replied Kara Jonathan looked over to Christian and gave him an innocent looking smile “Pleased to meet you,” said John, almost seeming to have a devilish look on his face. “So this is the Christian I’ve been hearing so much about, hmm? Interesting, very interesting..Someone like you is lucky to even have someone like her,” he said slightly mockingly. Christian let out a slight growl at Jonathan, already disliking John even after simply laying eyes on him and not even having spoken one word to him. John seemed slightly offended, and got up. Kara tried to stop him but he held his arms out. “No no, I know when I’m not welcome, and clearly this kid doesn’t like me. Be that as it may, I’ll be around.” John winked at Kara and gave Christian another devilish smirk. Christian returned the glance with a fierce growling look, and with that Jonathan headed off. Kara was a little upset at Christian for just making Jonathan leave like that. “What in the world was that for, Christian?” said Kara, crossing her arms a bit. “What was what?” replied Christian “I was only retaliating. You expect me to just take that kind of comment from that slob?” “Excuse me?” interrupted Kara “Jonathan may be a slob but he’s still my friend. Be a little nicer around him won’t you?” Christian reluctantly held in another growl and looked back at Kara “Oh fine…” He said almost grumbling “But I don’t like him, not one bit…” “Alright fine, I’ll accept that but just please try to get along with him…” She hugged him again, then started off on her way “I’ve got to get going to my dorm now okay? I’ll talk to you later this evening maybe.” Kara said as she walked off. “Alright I guess…” replied Christian as he watched Kara leave With that, Christian headed off in his own direction as well.
