Its sunset
Everything is quiet
Silence spreads across the yard
Peaceful
As I sit here
Watching the last rays of light
Hearing only the sigh of the wind
I sit in total peace
No loud noises
No annoying sounds
No voices seeking a space to invade
No people
Just me
The cooling wind
The dwindling light
My dreams,hopes & fears
Leaning back, watching
Seeing a cloud drift by
Listening as a lone bird cries
Seeking its way into the night
Closing my eyes
Seeing inside my dreams
The path that leads
The future that waits
Making a wish
As the North Star appears
That peace will reign
and fear and hate will fade
Drifting off to sleep
Visions of past regrets
Reaching for the life
Holding my breath
Peace falls over me
Death is a shadow
Life is the light
Holding out my hand
God help me
