Technical notes: crystals are organized in unit cells, the most basic of which are "primitive".
bone light - x-rays used to probe the interior of crystals. The diffraction provide information on what the crystallized material look like
burning: frozen/cold - crystals often need to be frozen before submitted to x-ray lasers - which burn them out. The stillness of crystals also resemble frozen states. - from the greek denoting ice rocks.
