Violin
The violin is a high pitched string instrument. It’s base is made from wood and it has thin metal strings attached to the neck. The bow, a wooden stick with white horse tail hair on it, glides across the strings of the instrument. I play the violin.
I have been playing the violin since first grade, it was either that or the piano. I flipped a lucky penny, to see what I was going to play. My parents quickly took me to the rental store, excited that I was going to play such a beautiful looking instrument. The guy that was there played it to make sure that it was working properly, beautiful music flew into my ears, it was a type of music that I have never heard before and I knew that I wanted to play just like that.
“I want my money back,” I roared, feeling mad and lied to by the rental guy. I thought that anyone could pick up the instrument and play like that. I was wrong. I stomped my little feet, still holding the rental violin. “I want my money baaaaaaack!” I yelled this time louder than before. “Practice makes perfect,” my mom said in Chinese.
Seven years later, I picked up the violin. I flipped through pages of my violin book and started to practice. Seven years wasn’t a lot of time, there are so many things that I still need to learn. I have gotten better. I made the LCS in 4th grade. I was in the Advanced Class and was sitting in the 2nd best chair. Next year I made it to the Chamber class, I was playing with 10th graders in the symphony when I was in 5th grade.
I met a lot of people in the symphony and learned more skills that I have never heard of. I play the violin and I like it.
