--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2: The Death of Issac Looking at his watch, Issac saw that he had only a few minutes before his first class. Luckily, he lived not too far from the main campus. Jumping on his monocycle with backpack on back, he revved the engine, causing the large wheel encircling the driver's seat to spin. It had taken him a while to configure the gyroscopess on the home-made contraption, inspired by one of his favorite animes, but he thought the end result was worth it.
Unfortunately, he would not have much longer to enjoy it.
As he swerved out onto the main road, something caught Issac's attention: the splotch on his hand was moving! As he watched, startled and confused, the blackish substance slid off his thumb and coated the engine, which immediately began to pick up speed. Hanging on for dear life as the wind whipped through his firey-red hair, he could only watch as the monocycle seemed to wrest control from its rider. It spun around, and headed back the way it came - still at the same breakneck speed. A humble Sedan was approaching, unaware of what was about to occur.
There was a blinding light.
There was terrible silence.
Issac opened his eyes, then blinked. All around him was whiteness, far as the eye could see. He looked down, and was somewhat relieved to see that he appeared to be unharmed.
There is no way in the world I could have survived that, he thought.
"You'd be right," said a voice, toneless as a stone was grey, and seemingly coming from nowhere.
"What!? Am I dead, then?"
"No, you are merely... elsewhere."
" 'Elsewhere?' what is that supposed to mean?"
"This way..." came the reply. Suddenly, to Issac's surprise, there was a stone pathway at his feet. Seeing no other alternative, he walked along the path for a bit, but was unsure whether he was making progress or not. When he looked over his shoulder, he saw the path was disappearing behind him. "Oh, come ON!" snapped the voice, and a gust of sudden wind picked Issac off his feet and flew him down some more pathway to a strange triangular door without a knob.
He placed his hand on the door, and everything went white...
