Yeah, that's right! I GOT BRAWL!!!1!one Let me tell you, it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I've been playing the new Adventure mode, The Subspace Emissary nonstop since I got it, only breaking to eat, sleep, and go to school (damn school getting in the way). So far, I've put in about three hours to the game, and I've only just scratched the surface. (i.e., when I finally quit last night, I had only unlocked one character and a song.) Which brings me to my next point: how the HELL did Nintendo fit all that content into one disc? Seriously? In any case, I've played with a few of the new characters (not like that, you perv.), and here are my thoughts:
Pitt has very well become my new favorite character. As anyone who knows me can tell you, I love cans 'o spam, and his smash+B move is that move. His recovery is a bit awkward, though, but whatev.
Meta Knight is also really cool and easily spammable; his B and smash+B moves are rapid hit attacks, not to mention his standard A push. Yes, you heard that right. Meta's A button releases a flurry of blows. However, he can't jump that well, and his up+B is kinda weird.
I don't really like Ike, as I think he's waaaaay too slow, and all his moves put him too close for comfort for my taste. His B move involves stabbing right into the ground at his feet, and his smash+B hurls himself foreward. His up+B is cool though; he tosses his sword then teleports to where it is, slamming it down a la Kirby's up+B, but sans shockwave.
The Pokemon Trainer is pretty cool, as you get to directly control the Pokemon for once. Squirtle is my favorite, as his up+B is insane. His smash attacks are pretty cool, as well. Charizard is my second favorite, though I think he might be tied for first, as he's both strong and fast. His B attack is basically Bowser's, but his smash+B is cool. I don't care much for Ivysaur, though. He's a bit too slow, and his attacks are hard to aim. His B attack only goes up, his up+B only goes diagonal, and he has no recovery, as far as I know.
Zero Suit Samus is damn awesome (and smexy), as she uses her pistol mainly as a laser whip and is pretty damn strong. My only complaint is that her down+B makes her go UP. WTF? However, she jumps really well, and her tether recovery is easy to do (up+B).
Lucas, is... pretty much a clone of Ness. All his attacks are exactly the same. PK Flash is called PK Ice, his PK Thunder goes through enemies, PK Fire doesn't stick around, and PK Magnet (or whatever his down+B is called) is held in front of him. The only good point about him is that he has a tether recovery, using some sort of snake-whip (probably his weapon from the Earthbound series, but I've never played).
All the other characters have had minor adjustments, too. Fox's blaster only shoots three pulses at a time before he holsters it again, Link's spin attack has been slowed down (I think the term is "nerfed" wink , and Mario's spin attack is replaced by a weird charge attack using FLUDD. Also, Marth is back, and he's still really cool, but his B charge now stabs instead of being a slash, but I just think that makes it cooler.
Oh yeah. Forgot to mention Diddy Kong. He sucks, but I'll mention him anyway. His B attack is a chargable, slow-moving, weak Peanut Popgun, his smash+B sends hurtling into the nearest enemy, and his up+B is a chargeable boost which isn't worth the time it takes to charge in the first place.
In the Subspace Emissary, there's some sort of power-up system involving stickers. I haven't quite figured it out; I've attached the stickers but noticed no changes at all.
Next update probably tomorrow. Signing off.
Oh yeah; going out on a limb, but I think that on Wednesday, Yahtzee (of Zero Punctuation) will probably doing Brawl as his topic. Either that, or next week. I just hope he doesn't criticize it too harshly.
