So, my Chemistry teacher is on maternity leave for the next seven weeks, and lucky us, we got stuck with a substitute that knows nothing about chemistry.
It's times like these that I wish I'd taken Zoology. D: Too bad Chemistry is required. Dammit.
Well, we did a lab on acids and bases today. Interesting stuff. We had to guess whether the substance was an acid or base, guess what the substance actually was, and then test it to see whether it was an acid or base. D: Our way of finding out what each substance was - wafting. That worked great, until we got to the ammonia.
Note to self: Not even wafting the ammonia will save your brain cells.
It burned. I felt sick for about an hour afterward.
Oh sure... "just waft it, it'll be fine!" =D Bull crap.
And... the fun continues. I don't know if she's ever gone over the rules of lab safety, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to pour hydrochloric acid, or ammonia, or bleach down the sink drains.
And to top it all off, she's making us read out of the textbook. There's a reason why our teacher never made us use the textbooks. She made us read half of a chapter, that supposedly she was going to quiz us on. What we read was basically a brain-sploding version of what we had taken notes on the day before. And there wasn't a hint of it on today's quiz.
To make it all better, she's making us bring our text books every day. If we don't, we have to write a letter to the principal, telling him why we didn't. We brought our books today, because we "needed" them. We read one page. ONE PAGE. I could have done that at home!
Like I need to carry that text book around, with the thousands of other books, binders, and crap I have to bring to school and back every day.
Well, tomorrow is Friday. Thank GOD.
In other news... we finished Wuthering Heights. Awww. D:
I'll miss it. It really was a good book. Even though I hated just about every character in it. XD They're all jerks, except for like... three of them.
Of course, by the end, you can't help but feel sorry for those poor jerks.
Now we're reading Macbeth. I get to be a murderer, and the goddess of witchcraft. Whoot!
