The road went from being one of thousands of cars, to being one of no cars. The black pavement turned into hues of grey. The radio muffled. The housing complexes turned to plains of nothing. Eerie bushes painted the sides of the road. She was expecting a "Dead End"...but even that would have been something...there was nothing. Nothing but emptiness. Nothing but the darkness. Nothing but the realization that she could drive on the road that didn't ever seem to end. There was no Horizon. There were other cars. There was nothing before her, nor nothing behind her. Nothing. Her heart beat louder inside her chest, pounding in her ears. Her eyes saw details every shard of glass on the road, every empty cigarette carton. There was nothing. She drove in the silence. The radio was going with the mood. It didn't want to put out anything that made sense. Just the shady sounds of confusion. The rain started to drop against the car. She was trapped. Trapped in nothing. Only this time, it wasn't in her. It was around her. She would implode. Fear. Her senses were tuned to degrees that were inhuman. Hearing things and seeing things far better than normal. Beyond Human. Her heart was a few catastrophic beats from overdrive. But a calming voice emitted from the end of the phone. Her signal had returned. Everything else grew more cloudy. But he was there. He calmed her beating heart. It slowed. The lights in the distance. It was Hope. She knew that she was driving the car. As long as she could do that, she could get home.
