Why is war considered sublime It is the atrocity of bodies being bodies and nothing more
Why is it described with such tenderness -the burning flesh and the smoking bones- that is all
Is it human to unmask ourselves And civilization and art and love and call that revelation
War is the end of history and the genesis of history The compression of experience A visceral collision
Of fate meeting fate and of watching the earth boil And the sky bleed and the loss and the hurt
And the sublime feeling of being dragged onto the chopping block.
