Jenny walked the few blocks left. Alone, thinking, thinking about life and her future. Jenny than passed a man. The man was dressed in dirty rags. He had a brown hat, and a long cloak. He had a ragged look on his face, and he had dirty feet. "Hello sir." Jenny said. She took out five dollars from her bag and placed it in the man's hands.
"Thank you mam! You are so kind!" The man said. He put the money in his pocket. The man began talking about how it happened. Jenny didn't bother interputting him, she was interested in his life. "Well, that is how it happened. I lost my job, my wife left me, and I have no future." Jenny stepped up to the man.
"I think we have a job as a dishwasher at my apartment complex." Jenny replied to the man quickly. "I think you need a head start in your future if you need a better life." Jenny helped the man up. "But first, we need you to get new clothes. My mom won't hire you until you are clean."
"Thank you so much!" The man followed Jenny to the apartment complex.
"I will talk to my mom about you living in one of the apartments, but she will probably put you in one of the old ones, that nobody uses." Jenny walked in the door. "Wait here."
"Sure." The man waited patentily. He heard voices, loud voices at first but than the voices lowered. Than complete silence. The door opened and out came a women. "Hello mam"
"Are you the man that wants the job?" The woman asked. She was wearing a traditional dress from Japan. It had flowers and birds on it. It was tan and it had a peaceful scene in it. "First I want to know your name."
"I am Vince." He quickly replied. "Vince Realson."
"Well hello Vince, what did you do before....umm......before you were poor?" The woman said. "O by the way, I'm Trina."
"I was a waiter before this. The shop got shut down and than nobody would hire me." Vince said.
"Okay your hired." Trina said. "We really don't need anybody with experience for this job, it's just that most people don't want this job. We will provide you with a room. Sorry but it is gonna be run down and won't have much electricty and heat. You will have to buy your own food and you will get paid $2.50 an hour. Your room is on B3 and room number -30. First one on the left. You can keep the furniture in the room, but it won't be much. It has 4 rooms, and 1 bathroom."
"Thank you so much, mam!" Vince ran to the elevator. Than he was gone.
"That was so kind for you to do that, mom." Jenny said. Her mom went into the apartment. "Mom?"
"I know, now why don't you go tell Vince what to do." Trina said. She than closed the door on Jenny.
"Okay mom. Doesn't look like I have anyother chose." Jenny walked to the elevator. She walked down the stairs from the first floor. "Who even lives down here?" She continued walking. Down two more floors than the Vince's room. She knocked on the door and she waited. Vince came to the door and let her in. "Wow, the hallway was dark and depressing, I didn't really think that this room would be the same."
"Well yeah. At least now I have new clothes, a job, and place to call home now." Vince said. "All thanks to you!" Vince came to Jenny and hugged her. She felt different. She than started to blush.
"Umm, I have to go now." She pushed him away. "Okay you start tomorrow, I'll show you what to do tomorrow." Jenny left as quick as she could. She ran up the stairs and into the elevator. "What have I done?" She went into her room. She opened her bag. She took the books in it. "I have to study. Tomorrow there's gonna be the final exams for me. Than I will graduate from school!" Jenny got so happy. The note fell to the floor. "What's that?" She picked it up and read it out loud. "Please call me as soon as you get this note. I will be waiting for you." Jenny thought for a moment. "No, maybe tomorrow."
