Cid had been traveling through the woods picking up wood as he moved along. He soon came across an opening which held a large lake. The sunlight hit the water and made it sparkle. Cid was hypnotized by the sight and began to walk to the shore. He sat down in the sand and stared out into the water. "Ive been in the woods many times.... Why have I never seen this lake...." The water began to bubble in the center of the lake. "Huh...?" A figure began to form from the water. It hovered over the water in the shape of a human. "Who is it that comes to the shores of my home?" "My name... is Cid. What is this place?" "This is the Darkening Shiver. Or that is what the humans call it...." "Why would they give such a beautiful place such a name?" "Because this is where the water beast , Xoutan, lives." Gale and Koujin stepped into the clearing. "Xoutan? I've heard of this creature... It is said to live in a lake that moves from forest to forest...." "And feeds on the lives of people who come to close to its home." The figure in the water began to laugh. "You are correct... I do feed on the poor helpless idiots that walk into my clearing." It began to change shape and turned into a large drake which was made of ice and flesh. "You won't escape this place." Gale and Koujin drew their weapons as Cid moved back towards them. "Heh... it was such a peaceful moment too...." He pulled out his weapon and the three waited for Xoutan to make its move.
