Revenge and Just Desserts (Part 1)-An EQ fanfic
It had been two hands of days since Xaryan had discovered the mutilated body of his bonded fox, Ayala. Clearwater and he had gone deep into the forest looking for the fiesty fox; in doing so, they had discovered the deadly human trap. It was out in the open, obviously made so that it would be easily seen by lupine-type eyes. Her body, once with a coat of crimson red, was sliced open and her fur had gone from crimson to a blood-rusted red.
How bitterly Xaryan had cried when they had discovered her. And how quickly, one of the most gentle elves in the holt, discovered that he could let hate overcome him. When he had returned to Sun-Goes-Down without Ayala's vibrant presence, the others in the tribe had suspected that something was very wrong. But none were really on good enough terms to go approaching him. So, Xaryan keep himself more distant than normal, plotting his revenge againt the roundears.
~A couple days later~
Xaryan grimaced angrily to himself. Several nights had pasted, and still the rage in his heart had not subsided. If only he hadn't been so caught up in his own affairs, if only he had paid more attention to the animals....but the "if onlys" would not bring back his beloved Ayala.
"Filthy humans," he snarled to no one in particular. He was high up in the Father Tree, allowing his keen sense of sight and smell to catch any hint of the cursed five-fingers. Deception gave him a look from her lower branch. The plains lion could not go as far up into the tree as her elf friend, but she refused to leave his side of the late. Yawning, showing off impressive canines, she sent up to her bonded.
**Is friend still hurting. Wanting to hunt tonight?**
Ignoring her send, Xaryan continued his rant. "They prance about the forest with no disregard to anything but themselves. Destroying our lives and all that comes into contact with them. I say they should pay!"
Leaf listened secretly to Xaryan's fevored speech. She had snuck high into the branches to comfort her sometime lovermate, but instead she now crouched in the fork off one of the branches, hand over mouth. Leaf only knew of Xaryan's gentle side...his caring personality. This vicious version of the handsome elf frightened her greatly. She hardly recognized the look in his dark blue eyes.
