A sigh escaped her lips. She was in thought, lost in its endless possibilities. Her bliss from the world around her. The only place she was free to be herself it seemed. The face was only partially painted today. She couldn't find her usual parts of make-up to cover the rest of the face. She'd stayed out into the world and been accepted. But not so much noticed. Not that she was craving for anymore than the sun to shine and the breeze to pass her skin as soft as a whisper, but much rather the world and the people. She didn't understand how he was supposed to get anything across when he did not refer to her by name, or even acknowledge her as a person. They didn't seem to bother. Not that one had any thing to do with it; the girl's ignorance was forgivable. But he had known. Something seemed to bother him. She kept her mouth shut. It always seemed like the best thing to do. Her words fell short and she crawled back into her bed and laid once more in confusion, sitting in her bliss of thought. The world was so complex. It seemed to never let her have more than a moment of happiness. Why was she doing everything so wrong? Paper wings crumble and fail to flap on their own. She was as cheap and easy to see through as a child dressed as an angel on Halloween. The others voice in her mind. He spoke to her, in a taunting way, much like she'd remembered. He might have broken, missed her. Beauty and the Beast posed the best question, "For who could ever learn to love a beast?". She didn't understand it. She went back into her corner and painted. Painted for the parents, painted for the students and their unending ignorance, painted for Him, and painted because she no longer found any worth in that image she gets from the window she stares into so often. She didn't see the reason to. She had nothing of any desire to anyone. She was broken, used and worn. An old child's toy. Left to either be tossed out or sold in a garage sale for less than a dime. Vanity will always find the whore back to square one...and thus she paints.
