• I lay in the gray light
The moon a bright disk of white
    Smiling down at me
    Surrounded by stars so wee

    It floats across the sky
    As the hours tick by
    Crawling along the horizon
As I check my phone from Verizon

I sigh and close my eyes
Hoping to see through the lies
That conquer us in the night
    Choking the day so bright

The sun peeks over the side
Seeing if the world is wide
    Awake, and find out
    If the clouds will pout

    The music in my ears
    Is not what anyone hears
    ‘Cause no one can know
That my heart is filled with woe

    I sleep in peace
For Earth is just a small piece
Of the world that we live in
    Or die in

    But no one really knows
Or at least it never shows
That our world is not what it seems
But only in the midst of dreams

    That children think of
During boring days and no love
That we all know in every heart
But nobody shares in the real part

So we wonder about what really goes on
    When the mind drifts on-
To the topic of worlds and stuff
And we float up to the clouds of fluff
