An Old Key:
I feel like an old key, scrap metal with no use. You've changed the locks on your heart, and my help you refuse. So now I just sit, and rust in the rain, while you laugh all day long, my heart still in pain. While I cant play your games, my role still remains. To keep you smiling, until I can come in again. Yet you keep on this game, the teases, the shame, but the love that I have still goes on just the same. And though you know not of the pain that I’ve gained, you still leave me here, to sit in the rain. And as I rust, heart unrestrained, I can feel the bitter taste of this cold relentless pain. I know that you care and your love is so warm, but all is ice cold in this torrential downpour. I see you together and I feel so ashamed, of this petty jealousy that drives me insane. While I drove you away, out of this pain, I did so in hopes that you’d find me again. You knew not my intentions to spare you the rain, which continues to pour day after day. But now you’ve moved on to brighten the way of some other young fellow who I see and disdain. While this key will say nothing he secretly mourns, for the love he has known shall be nevermore. This lonely key shall only degrade, rust away and finally fade. From memories and photos and even your heart. This key’s only fate is alone in the dark.
