The tame lion answers to the lighthouse
In the distance of the Long Island Sound
A cry of great grief
No man can ever know
Ornery behavior and a tongue like fire
He was a fighter, he was the royal crown
Who struck the foes and the liars
And buried them alive in the dirt so brown
Where daisies grow, and one more pretty
Than the rest
But isn't it a pity
That the best
Can't be paired with the girl grown from the ground
Chorus
Syllables garlanded and
Secrecy kept
That these two kinds of people
Met under a strawberry red sunset
In the most romantic preset
Yet
This taboo was looked on with cold eyes
An exotic incense in the blue night
Drove these secret lovers mad
In the fire of a passion's radiant light
These young doves had it bad
An allusion to a hidden garden
Lion and daisy in the midst of it all
Watched as angered eyes slowly hardened
Their created kingdom destined to fall
Chorus
And what became of them?
This fable in all its rampage
Was lost in social class mayhem
As the now tame lion answered to the lighthouse
In the distance of the Long Island Sound
A cry of great grief escaped his lips
And no man could ever know
The likes of such a daisy
Lost in a summer frenzy
Where the cost of romance was learned
where the lifeless heart was earned
