You remind me of a time
when everything seemed fine.
Well, I might have lied
‘cause I was losing my mind.
Please, don’t look behind
there’s nothing good left to find.
I drowned my hopes in wine
while waiting for a sign.
If you’re still confused,
well, here’s another clue:
I'm happier without you.
The rumours were unjust, untrue,
so I owe the truth to you -
here’s the letter, it’s overdue.
Although, I know you'll misconstrue,
because that's just what you do.
I’ve seen happier days;
it wasn’t always this way.
But the games you’d play
threw me in disarray.
You threw my heart away.
Well, now I’m awake
and it's time things changed.
When you say hello
I remember your soft glow.
But now I know
that what I saw so long ago
was nothing but a show.
Yes... now I know.
I can make it on my own.

Description:
Experimenting with rhyming when I was bored, inspired by an ex of mine.
I wasn't attempting to make it flow, but simply organise my own thoughts a little. - Date: 10/28/2011
