Shun the one who calls you a coward
For showing your emotions,
For being human.
They say you’re a coward
For having tears,
But they’re the cowards,
Afraid to let them loose.
For God knows every tear that falls,
And God knows the reason why.
And God knows every tear you hide,
And God knows that which is behind.
They say there’s weakness in tears,
That you must be strong and keep them hidden.
But is it strength to conform to the world?
Is it strength to appear emotionless and heartless?
I can see the strength in tears—
I can see the courage it took to let them rise.
The courage to fight the world.
It takes strength to ignore the world,
To shun the ones who call you weak,
To mock the masks they put around themselves,
To be human and not a robot,
To have emotion, but never fear.
I am with you, God is too.
We will always be there for you,
For God knows every tear that falls,
And God knows the reason why.
And God knows every tear you hide,
And God knows that which is behind.
